There were bikes to rent, and everything was just delightful.

My party of 5 total stayed only one night when hiking the Magome to Nagiso section of the Nakasendo. Proximity to train station and Nakasendo trail was the original selling point, but we fell in love with the place as soon as our host toured us around. It feels like staying at an artsy bed and breakfast, except you provide the breakfast and you get the entire place to yourself. There's small, delightful touches of personality and hospitality every where you look. We did not want for anything. Our sweet host met us at the front door to enter data from our passports and then gave us a walk through of the building. Two toilets and two showers was perfect for a group of 5. Fridge and other kitchen appliances work great. We listened to the CD disc player on the wall while reading the books and it was a lovely experience.The futons were placed very thoughtfully according to our parties needs. In addition to the trail and train station, there's a grocery store, a historic bridge and a cafe all within a couple minutes walk. The patios were a great hang out spot and we saw monkeys near the river around 7am. Honestly, I wish we had stayed longer but our plans dictated we move on. Next time we will try to book a few more nights so we can explore the area more!

Pick up and drop off service was great and really useful. Also provided good tips and recommendations for food, skiing and other activities.

Gaspard is an incredible host making everyone feel at home and super helpful. It's been definatly the highlight of my Japan trip! Highest possible recommendation! This one is by far the best! The crew is second to none, such a nice gang of friendly and caring people! The shuttles to the ski resorts and free shuttles to the Onsen made it the perfect place to stay! Breakfast was perfect as well! Immaculate vibes! Will be back!

From the moment I got there they went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. They gave me recommendations of where to visit in the city, and it was nice to come back in the evening and sit and talk together. It was really a pleasure to stay there!

Guest House Kura was my first time as a solo traveler, and I felt right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and made me feel safe. We even had a party there, and it was the best place to meet new people and experience traditional house living with a Futon bed. Overall, it was the best experience I’ve had so far!
