The place has an authentic spark, we loved to stay here! The owner is really kind and helpful, gave a lot of tips and recommendations. Perfect for experiencing authentic Kyoto! It was a bit cold at night, but there was an ac and warm blankets, so it's not a problem! There's an onsen just by the place, so you can relax after a long day of exploring

Very clean, central, and neat stay. The staff was cordial and the collective amenities in the common area were not short than spectacular, from prime coffee-making tools to high-quality beans and teas. Good common areas and architecture as well.

It took about 20 minutes to walk from the nearest JR station (Nijo), but it positioned us well to see places in Arashiyama and Kinkaku-ji (also a 20-minute walk). Grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants were plentiful and nearby. Our hosts were easy to work and communicate with and were very friendly. You have to climb a steep staircase to access the rooms and bathroom on the second floor, but our hosts were very helpful in moving our luggage up to our rooms even though we were both able to do so without problem. There is a nice shower/bath on the first floor.

Great traditional guesthouse not too far from Nishi-Maizuru station (10-15mn walk). The private room is lovely, with fresh smell of tatami. Jinbei and samue available on rent. Bikes also available.
