Our room was very clean and cosy (AC also has heating for the chillier evenings), our beds were SO comfortable and the pillows/bedding felt brand new. Definitely try the massage chair after a long day of walking. The family that own the guesthouse also live there and they are so welcoming and helpful, service always with a smile. You remember people for the way they make you feel and we felt so at home during our 5 nights stay. Their dog Jiro is a character if a little timid :) Little touches include free umbrellas to borrow, hair dryer, torches and tea/coffee. You can cook in their fully kitted kitchen and also use the fridge. Laundry is also so cheap and the bathroom and showers are always so clean. Close to the nearest subway station and an easy walk to Gion. You should stay here just for the breakfast, the best we've ever had. We are vegan and there were plenty we could eat (6 diff fruits, wonderful miso soup, salad, natta, bamboo rice, juices) and plenty of other foods for omnivores! We wished we could have stayed longer.

So clean and the owner super nice.

A 15-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, Guest House Gojo offers simple and cosy Japanese-style dormitory accommodation with free Wi-fi, futon beds and shared bathrooms. It is housed in a 100-year-old traditional building. Wonderfull place! Very cool environment, clean spaces, comfortable room and bed - where I had the best nigh sleeps of the trip so far - and very nice staff. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Kyoto.

The property is non-smoking and is set 2.2 km from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall. Everything! It was a wonderful stay. The bed was really comfortable, the hostel was clean and the location convenient (there are many places to eat such as Sushiro, MOS Burger or Ramen nearby!). Inside of my room there was a mirror and a place to wash my face or brush my teeth, that was also tremendously helpful at night and in the morning. I didn't use the kitchen, but it is well equipped and everything was ready for me in case I needed it. The access is very simple, it easy to go in and out, no matter the time. Also, each room's door has a sturdy lock, so it feels very safe (not that it was necessary, but I mention this in case it's anyone's concern). The host is incredibly kind, attentive, friendly and helpful. I had a special request for my stay and he made sure that I had everything I needed on time. Also, he speaks fluent English, so there weren't any communication problems at all. He was there on time at checkout to see me out and to help me with my luggage. There is a bus station and a train station nearby, so it is easy to move around. Thank you, Shin, for a wonderful stay!! I hope to stay here again soon.
