Our stay at Momiji was great! The old Japanese house was warm and homey and the hosts were kind and welcoming. Two cats were a bonus. Dinner at the Thai restaurant was exceptional and highly recommended! I would be back anytime and ideally would stay for longer!

Located in Kumamoto and within 2.3 km of Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, Tudzura features a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property. The property is situated 2.5 km from Kumamoto Castle, 5.2 km from Suizenji Park and 13 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto. Kumamoto City Museum is 1.8 km away and Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto is 2.4 km from the hostel. Carefully and tastefully renovated historic building, well-designed room, beautiful zen space, furniture, colour scheme, lighting, aesthetics, the warmth and shine of wood… Blending unique charm of old houses aged by time and modern comfort - best of both worlds. I know I’ll love it the first time I saw it on booking.com, and the stay is just lovely. Had a nice chat with the owner and staff too. It’s the type of space that makes you ‘wow’, and the type of hotel that you want to keep to yourself.

The whole hostel is built in samurai style which I found really cool and interesting. It is quite far from the city centre but they borrowed me a bike which i could use anytime.

Set in Tamana, 20 km from Hirayama Hot Spring, HIKE offers air-conditioned accommodation and a shared lounge. The property is around 24 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 25 km from Kumamoto Castle and 29 km from Suizenji Park. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, and luggage storage for guests.

With a shared bathroom fitted with a shower and a hairdryer, rooms at the hostel also have free WiFi, while selected rooms also offer a mountain view. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was large and clean. Our room was the family room with a decent sized playhouse inside where the kids play and even sleep. The building is old, but has been remodeled and is comfortable. The baked goods in the cafe on the 1st floor are delicious, and the cafe is whimsical and charming. There’s a kid’s playroom at the back of the cafe which was great for us, a group with lots of kids. There are also many ceramic wares by local artists for sale. I’d like to visit when the weather is cooler and explore the neighborhood.
