The facilities were clean. The owner is very nice, helpful and accommodating. The best part is they offer a free ride to and from the bus station and the inn. You just have to inform them beforehand. The owner told me that they have been living in Shirakawa-go all their lives and that they built the inn DIY. It was impressive.

They make you feel welcomed like family right away. Also a very social environment — the best type of social wherein everybody just gathers together at the end of the day to share stories. The space is beautiful and designed to feel like a traditional Japanese home. It was especially great to be there in the winter, because everything felt very cozy. It was also the perfect home base to see the Snow Monkeys, because it was a situated right on the super cute train line that takes you to/from Nagano and the monkeys.

You can use multiple baths and sauna as well as cold pool for 900 yen in the evening and in the morning before check out and enjoy nice food right after taking a good bath. Your company is gonna be some Japanese uncles and aunties, but they are great. It’s a simple place with a great soul!
