Best location around Santa Marta. Amazing place by the beach. Good variety of food for fair price. The staff are just amazing and make you feel as a family. Very helpful with the host but also with people around town. We did a charity event for feed the poor around Santa Marta organised by the hostel is was just amazing. I just recommend this place for anyone.

A Home Away from Home in Santa Marta – Highly Recommended! Sana Mar was meant to be just a short stop on our journey—but what started as a two-night stay quickly turned into five because we kept wanting to come back! The warm, welcoming atmosphere and family-like feeling made it hard to leave. The hostel is perfectly located — just a 10-minute walk to the beach, five minutes to food courts and a supermarket, and only 15 minutes to Mercado Público, where all major buses to Minca, Tayrona, and Palomino depart. It’s the perfect base for exploring the region. A true highlight of our stay was the hospitality of host Justin and the amazing chef Natalie. Every day, a freshly prepared menu is available, offering delicious and varied dishes such as Baba Ganoush, eggplant lasagna, and curries. While we couldn’t try everything, it was clear that food is a real passion here. There’s also a great breakfast and a communal kitchen for those who like to cook. The rooms are comfortable, equipped with fans and windows for fresh air. And if you’re lucky, you might get to try one of Justin’s love-made kombuchas—an exclusive treat that reflects the care and dedication poured into every aspect of the hostel. The hostel staff speaks Spanish, with Justin also fluent in English and Natalie speaking both English and German, ensuring easy communication for international guests. Another great service is the option to store your backpack while exploring nearby highlights like Minca or Tayrona, making it easy to travel light and return without hassle. Beyond just accommodation, Sana Mar stands for “Healing the Sea.” Staying here not only enhances your trip but also supports a meaningful project that trys to help reduce plastic waste in the oceans. Really beautiful hostel with friendly and helpful owners. Perfect to start some hikes. Comfy beds. Beautiful view. I didn't mind the way up and walked it regularly as it was just nice and also safe at night. I was always greeted with something to drink when I arrived

Rey and Yeimiz the couple running this place are absolute divine souls. Their positiv attitude and deep gratefulness for the living experience are truly inspiring. The energy of this place is just magic. Rey offers Shiatsu and other bodywork therapies. The location is right at the beach with this part of the town being a perfect mix between something happening and still being super relaxed and quiet. I felt like part of the family and town after just a few days <3

The Hostel is cool, with a nice area for eating, drinking and chilling. The staff was really nice with us and the beds comfortable.
