Vista Verde is a little corner of paradise! Very calm and peaceful place, perfect for birdwatching in the morning, chilling with the book in the hammock. The popular hike trails are also at the doorstep and it’s only 15 min walk to a beautiful waterfall. The owners of the hostel are very friendly and helpful. Julia met us and helped with all the questions that we had.

The view from the property is life changing. If you want the time for yourself or with your close family and friends worry-free, totally away from civilization, yet wifi connected, this is it. Whoever book this property should note that this is not an ordinary type of property: - Access is quite challenging: 1 hour from Minca, (30min of it is on challening dirt road). Zeep ride costed COP160K (in Dec 2023) per car. The bed cost was extremely affordable to compensate it. - Once you made an effort to come up here, you will eat the wonderful home meals "mom" provides, at a reasonable price given the location. A hiking to the waterfall will take 1+ hour one way. I was happy just staying at the property for 3 days doing nothing, like the two dogs, Nala y Leyla. - Due to the remote access, minimum 2 night stay is recommended. Once you stayed here knowing all the above, I don't know who will give less than 10/10!!!

Cacao Hostel is located in a residential neighborhood, which I liked a lot. It provides tranquility, but it is in walking distance from the old town. I liked the social area of the hostel, garden with the swimming pool, hammocks, bar, and kitchen. It's easy to find people to talk to, if you wish so. The staff is very friendly and helpful, all the receptionists working there and also volunteers. I really liked Mar, the volunteer from Peru, she is extremely friendly. She organized salsa classes and in general was very friendly to help with anything. I recommend staying in Cacao hostel, if you are in Santa Marta.
