Going to this hostel feels like a homecoming after leaving home for holidays. The first thing you'll notice upon arrival is that you have to take your shoes off when you go inside. After that you'll either be welcomed by someone of the staff or other guests, who most likely are there for the same as you will be: adventure, hikes around the region, chilling at night. Jaca organizes various events such as Burger Mondays and Pizza Fridays which is attended by more than just the hostel guests, and has contacts for surf lessons, paragliding and more. For me it was an instant match with both staff and guests, everyone just wants to have fun and make the best possible experience together during the stay. I have no doubts where to stay when I go back to Madeira, which is just a matter of if, but when.

I stayed here the night before my flight, and it was absolutely perfect – very close to the airport, which made everything so easy and stress-free. I was a bit nervous at first because I had never shared a room with a stranger before, but everything turned out great. The place was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I actually slept very well. I felt safe the entire time. What made it even better was the host – extremely helpful and kind, always ready to assist with anything I needed. You can tell he really cares about his guests and wants them to feel welcome. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a safe, clean and convenient place before or after a flight.

We stayed one night before our flight back, but we really liked it there. The place is on a bit of a steep street but close to the city center, you can walk 15 minutes to the marina and the bars. The staff is very nice, the girl at the reception welcomed us nicely and explained everything we needed pleasantly. The place is very clean and tidy, Small room, shared kitchen, 2 bathrooms/toilets, homey and pleasant atmosphere. Looking back, we would have spent more nights there on our vacation.

Everything was perfect for us in our stay in the hostel 29! We really enjoyed our time there! Was confortable, great location, very clean and quiet! I loved the kitchen! Look no further for hostel stays in Funchal. It is extremely clean, lovely staff, great beers for 1€ and my bedroom was so nice with a balcony. I would stay here again should I need a hostel stay close to everything in the city. Thank you guys, the auto check in and check out is a great touch too :)

There was a big beautiful balcony where you could look over the ocean. It was quiet in the neighbourhood. It has three single bathrooms, which I feel are way better than the group ones. The staff was really nice and I could even stay one night longer spontaneously.
