I was supposed to stay for a couple of days and ended up staying for a couple of weeks. From the beginning Geovanny, Elvira and Oscar gave me a warm and welcoming feeling. They clean the bath- and washrooms on a daily basis, and while they are at it they also make your bed. There is a beautiful, big kitchen, provided with all necessary utensils (even a blender!), some herbs, coffee and tea. One of my favourite things during my stay was cooking with a bunch of other people from the hostel, like a little family. There are activities like movie night, making tacos and eating marshmallows at the fire. It is also the perfect locations for digital nomads like myself. The vibe is chill and WiFi works perfectly. You can even take you computer up to the terrace and enjoy the view of the city. I found it really hard San Cristobál because the location has so much to offer, but especially because La Abuelita felt a little bit like coming home!

Highly Recommend! This hostel was fantastic! Agustin and the team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, providing excellent recommendations for places to eat and activities to do. They were incredibly helpful with anything we needed. The location is perfect—right in the center—and the amenities (kitchen, rooms, and bathrooms) are spotless. The beds are also very comfortable. We were a group of 8, and every one of us agrees: this hostel is a must-stay.

The hostel/hotel is located in the center so very convenient to explore the city. The room was uber comfortable and had scents like aroma therapy(very nice touch). It is quiet, cool and comfy. The kitchen is well stocked and water is provided. I would highly recommend to solo and couples with this travel budget. Good value.

It’s a special place, perfect if you seek to unwind from cities and travelling in a small community. It’s a very personal and chilled vibe because there are only three double rooms, so you’re not more than 6 people + Fernando who takes great care of his guests. He’s very helpful and attentive and checks in what kind of bread and drink you prefer for breakfast (it’s generally fruits, sweet or salty bread and coffee - not much but a great start into the day). He lives underneath the house and sometimes friends come over, so again, very friendly atmosphere and more a co-living than a hostel!

Beautiful garden, very nice staff, comfortable beds. Can get a little cold in the nighttime. Very good value for the price. We came back and stayed again after visiting Palenque. :)

the staff were SO friendly! anything you need they will assist. the breakfast is all ready and waiting for you as soon as you wake up, great facilities if you want to cook your own food. the bathrooms are kept really clean and same with the rooms. lovely place.

amazing hostal!! the staff is even better! we were invited for homemade tacos, got homemade oatcookies and had a nice time! our room was very spacious, clean and with warm water. the location is perfect so this is an absolute recommendation!!
