I stayed at Go Yala Hostel and honestly it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The place is clean, comfortable, and very peaceful, surrounded by nature and the farm. The rooms are air-conditioned, the beds are comfortable, and everything feels well cared for. What really makes this hostel special is the atmosphere and the people. The host is incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything, transport, food, or planning activities. I joined their eco-kitchen experience and village tour, and it felt very authentic. The food was fresh and delicious, cooked with ingredients from the farm. I also booked my Yala safari through the hostel, and it was super well organized with a great driver who explained everything and really tried to find animals. It was a smooth and stress free experience. For the price, you get way more than expected. It feels like a mix of hostel comfort, homestay warmth, and eco-village experience. I definitely recommend Go Yala Hostel to anyone visiting Tissamaharama or planning a Yala safari. I would love to come back again!

I had a memorable stay at the Funky Leopard Safari Lodge. The location is great and the ambience right in the heart of nature is heartwarming. The staff is so friendly and attentive. I was welcomed by Anton with a big smile and felt at home immediately. He was kind and very prompt, attending to my meals, reminding me of the times (😊). The food was well made and delicious. I had the privilege of having dinner at the campsite, by a bonfire. Timirah is a very kind and professional waiter with a perfect sense of timing. I also did a safari in Yala as a solo traveler and was lucky to have Vimansha as my guide. He was kind, attentive and very knowledgeable, which made me feel safe and well cared for throughout the experience. He shared fascinating insights about the park and its wildlife, turning the trip into something truly memorable. Highly recommend him if you want a meaningful safari, not just a drive through the park. Speaking of driving, Geeth was a very skilled driver who did everything to his em reach to make me feel safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this lodge and would love to come back. I took the night walk around the premises, which was wonderfully guided with high respect for all species. Thank you.
