Very clean and well organized. Pleasing comunal space to chill and super quiet rooms during the night. Also free breakfast and one free drink a day (i did not know that until last day tho :) ). The owner and baristas can give you many recommendations and they talk really nice English. Also many restaurants in the area and a konbini less than 10mins walking.

Excellent facilities, new and clean, cosy. Nice bathrooms. About 1-1.5hrs from Hakuba, which is workable for the fields. Also close to restaurants in Azumino. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

Spacious property with a lot of possibilities for arranging your stay. Great and extremely helpful host, who was very concerned about our smallest requests. Bikes on site, which help a lot in moving around Matsumoto. The perfect location near the castle makes it a center of your stay in the city, while Matsumoto itself makes it a great starting point for one-day trips in the region. There are maps and tips all around the property. The equipment and switches are all subtitled in English, so it's much easier to use them. And last but not least: the beds/futons were the most comfortable and warm in the of our trip in Japan! Next time we'll stay much longer, it's a real home away from home! Nearby parking is just 800JPY per day, a real bargain.

Such amazing value for money! We had six of us staying in their family bunk room and it was so comfortable and warm. The onsen, although small, was lovely after a day exploring Matsumoto. Attached to the hostel is a fantastic restaurant and the staff booked us a table when we checked in. Highly recommended. Another bonus is the free parking. Would come back here for sure.

Very friendly and cosy hostel with a perfect location near Matsumoto station. The tatami room was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was nice to stay in a traditional room on futon.

It is much more than a guesthouse. It is a family stay. You will get to eat Japanese food with the owners, Wakuw and Ayano, and their three charming children. The place is in nature, not close to shops or transportation, but this is also part of the charm. If you do not have a car, it is best to discuss this with the owners. I stayed for 5 nights, used it as a base for traveling to nearby nature reserves (Kamikochi, Norikura) all within an hour’s drive, and had a great time. Meeting other travelers was also a great experience.

Great location near the train station, and close to many restaurants. Large supermarket is less than 10 minutes walk away. Largely traditional Japanese style with usable shared kitchen. Rooms simple but comfortable. The managers create a very welcoming environment. The only downside that may concern some, is that as the property is 90 years old, it can be cold at times

Huge bed and a very comfortable room. Staff was great and the hostel is connected to a cafe which is a great spot to grab a bite or coffee.
