The accessibility to train station, bus stops, restaurants and market. Also the staffs are nice especially Matt which I was able to talk to when I’m trying to be awake and kill time for my earlycheck-out and flight.

I liked the staff of the Hostel. Very friendly and respectful. They make you feel 100% at home. It was truly home away from home. Special mention goes to Evelin and Veronika. These young ladies are great in hospitality. I have enjoyed preparing my meals in their spacious and well equipped kitchen. I enjoyed very much chatting with fellow guests. Hootananny Hostel is a great place to be.

What a place, truly, what a place... I booked here a few times in a row, after I discovered how good this hostel's environment is. Unlike most other hostels, St James has a home-like environment to spend the time in, with a TV room, an area to sit and work on your laptop or play games with other guests, a dining area and a free coffee station, and of course, the back garden which even has it's own gym. Nice scrambled or fried eggs and pancakes give me the energy to start the morning alongside a coffee. In the evening cooked dinner is available for those who sign up during the day. Anton, Shirley and the other volunteers who take care of breakfast and dinner make delicious food while keeping spirits lively. The evening receptionists Matias and Drazen are always there to help, even when things get busy or unexpected situations take up their attention. In the morning, Alison will be on top of things making sure things are running smoothly. The facilities tend to be clean and maintained, and even when spontaneus cleaning might be necessary, they have a button you can press to signal it... ain't that something? Minor repairs are undertaken here and there keeping the facilities in good condition. Oh, did I mention the cat? Tyson is the mascot here, although he seems to only like food and a cozy place to rest. Activities are scheduled every evening. Participation is optional but they make for a great opportunity to meet and interact with other guests. And of course, the area. In Earl's Court, you are close to everything in Central London, as well as some nice parks. If you're passing through London and you need a place to stay, where you can meet people and have a good time, St James Backpackers' seems to be a better option than most. 👍

The Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming . The accommodation was very secure . I had to get past security at the door of the bar before checking in and collecting a key in order to gain access to locked accommodation wing next door. I arrived before check in time and the staff kindly looked after my luggage , even taking into the back of the bar when I left the building. Great experience all round .. Comfortable beds and quiet room with excellent shower facilities. The bar was ideal , serving beer and liquor off all varieties . The Guinness was smooth and well poured . I liked that I could watch 2 different football matches simultaneously on big screens while also being able to key an eye on Ronnie O Sullivan on the telly in my big comfortable booth.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
