GermanyOn our way back from Vienna to Germany, we randomly picked a location to stop for the night, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. We arrived quite late, well past the check-in time, and were initially worried about whether we'd be able to check in. To our relief, the host waited for us and gave us a warm, welcoming reception. His kindness and hospitality truly exceeded our expectations.
As for the location, it left us speechless. The night sky was absolutely stunning, filled with stars, and the entire area was incredibly peaceful. Waking up to the breathtaking sunrise in the morning was an unforgettable experience. The location also offers numerous activities for visitors, including scenic cycling routes. And then there was the lake— it had the feel of a beach getaway.
The room we stayed in was spotless, providing a cozy atmosphere for a restful night. Though the bathrooms were shared, they were well-maintained, and hot water was readily available for bathing. Breakfast was available on request, which was a nice touch to start the day. Overall, it was an amazing stay and we couldn't have been more satisfied.

SwedenAfter backpacking for about three moths and staying at various hostels I can easily say that this was the best one! Would rate higher than 10/10 if I could! Super friendly staff, great rooms, cozy beds, it’s got it all! It’s also got it’s own nice art style and a really nice private yard!!!

Best hostel I stayed at yet! Great value for money! We got to the hostel and almost cried because it was so nice after a long period of travel. Picturesque and beautiful! Very clean and helpful staff!

The receptionist we met at the hostel was so lovely and very informative regarding the cheapest spots to eat etc!
Also, we were really impressed as we were offered a private room for the same price as the 6-bed mixed dorm we had booked. The owner had thoughtfully noticed we were two young girls in a dorm of otherwise men. Very kind and considerate! We were transferred to a guest house on the other side of the river, with a terrace, garden and kitchen, still very close to the centre of town.

The hostel is small and charming. The rooms are very simply furnished with wide, comfortable wooden beds. There are no closets in the room, just very small safes. The bathrooms are clean, the kitchen has everything you need. The location is ideal for all trips. You have everything you need nearby (restaurants, shops, sights). The sheets and towels aren't quite as new, but okay. The staff is very nice and helpful. Check in and check out without any problems. I'm already looking forward to the next visit

great location, if it was cheaper then it would have been worth it. Nice balcony. Staff were helpful before I arrived but not present for the stay.

My stay in Hostel Merlin was perfectly fine and comfortable.
1. Good location, right next to the historical town centre of Český Krumlov
