It is a great, it has everything you need as a solo traveller. Bed is comfy, the bathroom is clean and toilet seat is warm. The room is thoughtfully designed so even though it’s small, I was able to feel comfortable even with a large luggage. The free coffee is great (I’m from Sydney and have quite decent coffee to compare to!).

I had an amazing stay at Desti Youth Hostel Jing’an Temple in Shanghai. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Jing’an, close to the metro, great cafés, and all the energy of the city. The rooms and common areas are clean, modern, and comfortable, making it an ideal place whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. What truly sets this hostel apart is the staff. Fafa, Lailai, Vicky, Galvin, and Curtis were absolutely exceptional. Each of them went above and beyond to make my stay smooth and enjoyable. From giving local recommendations to helping with logistics, they were always friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming. Their hospitality made the place feel like home. If you’re coming to Shanghai and want a cozy, well-located, and wonderfully run hostel, this is the one. I’ll definitely stay here again.

I stayed at a Dengba hostel near Guilin Park Metro Station in Shanghai, and the location was really convenient. It’s about a 7–8 minute walk from the station, which is on Lines 9, 12, and 15, so getting to Xujiahui, People’s Square, and other places was smooth. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, so I didn’t have to go far for meals or supplies. The staff were professional and friendly. I arrived a bit early, and they helped me store my luggage and patiently answered my questions about transportation and the area. Check-in and check-out were quick, and they responded promptly when I needed help. The room was clean and tidy; overall, it was a hassle-free stay with good value.

I can’t rate this place highly enough. This was my first stop as a tourist in China and upon arrival at 3 am reception helped me set up my Alipay and communicate with my taxi driver. The staff were always so kind, the location was walking distance to attractions, food and transport. The beds were comfortable and private. On my final day the beautiful lady from reception helped me to catch a bus well beyond any staff member has ever helped me in my travels. Everything about this place was perfect for a traveller.
