After travelling in Albania for over two months, I had the pleasure of staying at Friends' Hostel for one week. This is a perfectly managed family-run hostel and it has been my best accommodation experience during this long trip. The hostel is centrally-located in the Old Town in Gjirokaster, so it is close to all the attractions, cafes, restaurants and bars. At the hostel, you have large common areas that include two terraces with fantastic views. As for the facilities and cleanliness, everything is excellent. Lastly, the family is very welcoming and kind. While it is called Friends' Hostel, it can also be called Family Hostel given how they make you feel like you're at home!

This was one of my favourite stays in Albania. The couple who run it are absolutely delightful, and go out of their way to help you and make your stay comfortable. As long as you have Google Translate, it's easy to communicate. Breakfast is IMMENSE! It's delicious, and so much! The beds were comfy and everything was really clean. It's about a 15 min walk to the main plaza, and the hill isn't that bad.

Beautiful old stone house, great beds and rooms, fully equipped kitchen and lovely shared bathrooms. The house is well located, in the middle of the old town and close to everything. The lady that runs it is wonderful and the terrace of the house with the castle view is amazing.
