The place was incredibly clean and well-maintained, with beautifully decorated rooms. The private bathroom was also spotless. The location felt very safe and welcoming, and it’s conveniently close to all the main attractions. The host is an absolutely wonderful person - very friendly, kind, and always willing to help. Everything went smoothly and I truly recommend this stay with all my heart!!! There’s also a fully equipped kitchen downstairs, where you can make tea, coffee, or anything you need. It had everything one could ask for! If I ever return in the future, I would happily stay here again. I have only good memories from this place <3 The only minor issue, which was not the host’s fault at all, was that our neighbors on the same floor kept setting the air conditioning to a very low temperature. Since it was a shared unit, despite our efforts to adjust it, they would constantly change it back to an extremely low setting, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. But again, this is no reflection on the owner, who truly deserves all the praise. Overall, I highly recommend this homestay and truly appreciate the hospitality. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Located within 24 km of Torrey Pines State Reserve and 33 km of San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Coastal Hideaway provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Carlsbad. There is a private entrance at the homestay for the convenience of those who stay. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and private check-in and check-out for guests. I booked this property on a whim without much research and so was incredibly surprised at how nice it was! The host (Janie) was incredibly communicative and gave clear check in instructions. Parking in front of their house was very easy. The property is incredibly clean and well equipped - they provided bottles of water, dressing robes etc. which was a lovely touch. The bed was very cosy and I slept like a log for those three days! Yoghurt, granola and fruit is provided for breakfast which was perfect, as well as access to their lovely back patio. Janie herself is also a delight - I was lucky to have a long chat with her and learn a little bit about her life and the area! Would definitely recommend if you want a quiet, safe and peaceful stay (important as a female solo traveller), close to but outside the hustle and bustle of San Diego.
