Lovely stay, beyond my expectations. The staff is exquisite and the food delicous.

Lovely host family. Upon arrival they were quick to offer us tea and biscuits, setting up a table outside our room. We had a lovely discussion with them in the evening, and they gave us mangos and bananas from their tree :)

We really enjoyed our time at Sam's Stay. The place is new and one of the nicest we have been to in Srilanka. Sam welcomed us with fresh mango juice from his garden. The next day he showed us all the fruit trees around his place, rice fields and natural pool where you can swim. We had an amazing breakfast at his restaurant. On our wish he even prepared us wood apple juice which was delicious. For a local experience of Srilanka we highly recommend Sam's Stay.

We enjoyed our stay well. They welcomed us and treated like we are their own family. The food was delicious and always freshly cooked. The place is only about 5 minutes drive away from Wellawaya town.

We had a lovely stay here! The staff was absolutely welcoming and the room was very comfortable. We were greeted with a warm cup of tea, it was wonderful :) Their large garden is a great space to chill, and they also have a book exchange! Thank you :)

We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

The place is in the amazing location, the owner is super helpful and welcoming and they made us the best food we had in sri lanka!

The area around this place is super beautiful and quiet! We enjoyed our stay in the middle of nature a lot, Michael was very welcoming and friendly, even took us for a nice hike! He is the best cook, food is amazing!

Its a very nice, clean place. Very peacefull. We enjoyed our stay. Also specially the care taker is so good and supportive. Overall Very Good 👍

A place with special spirit, different world, "family village" within the city. Accomodation is very nice, stylish, nature feeling, still full comfort. Full of animals and hidden corners for chilling or meditation.
