Featuring a garden and views of garden, Mailagama Cinnamon Residence is a recently renovated guest house set in Kataragama, 21 km from Situlpawwa. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. The people make the place even better. I would love to go back again and stay more nights. You can also buy cinnamon sticks, black pepper etc… direct from their farm… so it’s cheap.

Featuring lake views, Sam's Stay Buduruwagala provides accommodation with terrace, around 39 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge. Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. There is an outdoor fireplace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. We really enjoyed our time at Sam's Stay. The place is new and one of the nicest we have been to in Srilanka. Sam welcomed us with fresh mango juice from his garden. The next day he showed us all the fruit trees around his place, rice fields and natural pool where you can swim. We had an amazing breakfast at his restaurant. On our wish he even prepared us wood apple juice which was delicious. For a local experience of Srilanka we highly recommend Sam's Stay.

At the homestay, units include a desk. Every unit has a kettle, a private bathroom and free WiFi, while certain rooms include a terrace and some have city views. At the homestay, each unit includes bed linen and towels. The hosts were amazing. So welcoming to our family and open. We had the most incredible dinner and breakfast cooked by them and shared with the two families. We learnt a lot about Sri Lankan culture and would highly recommend other people to stay.

Located in Bibile, 46 km from Maduru Oya National Park, Nobel Regency provides accommodation with a garden and free private parking. The property features garden views.

The units in the guest house are fitted with a kettle. With a private bathroom equipped with a shower and slippers, units at the guest house also offer free WiFi, while certain rooms include a terrace. At the guest house, every unit has bed linen and towels. the entrance to the Regency is unusual as it is behind the main buildings along the street and you go through an underpass to get there. however once there, it feels like you are on a tiny island away from the lively city center. The owner, Ruin, is a man who knows how to answer your questions honestly and accurately. He knows the area and is motivated to create a friendly comfortable, clean, and safe hotel environment. You also have privacy, good food, and can lounge outside under shady roofs. the rooms are spartan but clean and have internet viable monitors. the price including an excellent breakfast was about 11 EUs. Ruin helped my son get a nice pair of pants because my son had ripped his jeans. He also helped arrange a tuk tuk to take us to an old friend of mine who was living in the region. This is an A+ hotel in spirit and actuality. Each room has its own fairly private area where you can stretch out and read a book under a shady roof.

Set in Wellawaya and only 28 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Hotel Serugahawatta offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The property features quiet street views and is 13 km from Buduruwagala Temple and 20 km from Ella Rock. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

Some units include a terrace and/or a balcony with mountain views and an outdoor dining area. At the homestay, every unit has a private bathroom with a bath.

For guests with children, the homestay offers outdoor play equipment. Cycling, fishing and walking tours are possible within the area, and a water park is available on-site. I travel extensively and the stay with Bathiya’s family at Forest Treetop holiday resort was a highlight of my trips. Bathiya picked us up from the main road and drove us in his jeep to his beautiful treehouse surrounded by farm. We fell in love with the farm immediately . There are all kinds of fruit and vegetables. He took time to explain to us the vegetables and fruit. He also took my son to do gem digging in the river surrounded by monkeys and peacocks. Later he showed us around in his jeep and also took us on a night tour near the farm. His mother cooked an amazing Sri Lankan dinner for us, we felt at home . the next morning he took us on the safari tour in Yala Park. He was amazing at spotting animals and birds . We basically owned the whole park to ourselves because we entered through the Galge entrance and most tourists go to the southern block. This is a place NOT to be missed . And you will feel true Sri Lanka hospitality with Bathiya ! And we miss the dog John
