Everything about my stay was so wonderful. Hiro and his adorable assistant, Marie, are attentive, kind, and welcoming. I got to hear different stories of Hiro's life as well as recommendations that I never would have known about otherwise. His care for the guests is so apparent, including turning the heater on every morning in the kitchen, being so responsive and flexible, and consideration for any needs. The house itself is beautiful with tatami mats in the bedroom, a zen garden, a mini onsen, and surrounded by ancient trees and nature. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, kettle, and dishware, and Hiro-san provides towels and slippers. He also prepares the mini onsen for guests every night as well as shuttle service to Tobu and JR stations whenever you would like to leave or come back to the house.

For those who want to cook themselves, it's convenient to stay here. Supermarket is only 3-min walk from the house, and the kitchen has everything you need! (Even a Vitamix blender!) Though no breakfast is included, there are free mini donuts, tea bags and bananas offered all day long.

Masayuki, our host, was extremely kind and accommodating, and was able to recommend great and safe hikes in the area, and very kindly looked after us. The upper story of the house where we stayed had such a traditional and nostalgic feel, and also had a full kitchen which allowed us to cook meals at home, and enjoy the beautiful space. Everyday our host would give us fresh strawberries and spend time chatting with us about art, the town, and local culture. It is also within walking distance to a local hotel onsen, which was a large part of our nightly routine while staying.
