We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

Introduced us to the neighbourhood and assisted in the dinner booking as well.

Housed in a building dating from 2023, this guest house is 47 km from the Lake Ezu. The guest house has family rooms. Everything about my stay was amazing - the hosts were so lovely and hospitable (made me tea and breakfast, gifted me an umbrella, drove me to the bus station in the morning), and the room was great. Way bigger than a standard Japanese inn, and the bathroom had great amenities too. I enjoyed going to the local shrine, and sitting outside the hostel to enjoy the peaceful nature. I would love to stay again.

Convenient location for buses to the onsen and kannawa area. Being able to get to an onsen in the morning and before dinner is an advantage of being in the area.

Such a wild experience to stay here.Even I missed the omakase menu,still had a lovely night with other customers and the owners.

Set in Yanagawa, Fukuoka region, 柳川ゲストハウス 憩 (IKOI) is situated 35 km from Hirayama Hot Spring. The property has garden and inner courtyard views, and is 19 km from Yoshinogari Historical Park. The guest house offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. We loved every second of our stay at IKOI in Yanagawa. The guest house was a lovely half hour walk from the train station along the canal in an absolutely beautiful neighborhood. We loved strolling around the area and it was easy to get to boat rides and restaurants nearby. IKOI itself is wonderful and had everything we needed. Warm room (can't say that about every place we have stayed at), super comfortable beds and other amenities in tip top condition. The view of the garden from the cafe is honestly worth the price alone, it's breathtaking. It's hard to believe you're not in the countryside when looking out that window. Finally, I have to dedicate a paragraph of this review to Jo, the owner. He was so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. He helped us with figuring out transportation, he called a restaurant for us to help with a reservation and he recommended some local places that ended up being the highlight of our stay in Yanagawa. I cannot say enough great things about our host, just 10/10. Overall, our stay at IKOI was wonderful and I could not recommend this place more!

A recently renovated guest house situated in Minami Aso, お宿でん吉 features a garden. The air-conditioned accommodation is 30 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, and guests can benefit from on-site private parking and complimentary WiFi. The guest house has a hot tub and a shared kitchen. The best accommodation for our trip in Japan. The house is very beautiful, well renovated with very good taste.Three toilets but only one bathroom.The owner and the staff are very kind and full of service mind. We have barbecue with karaoke , singing and dancing with the best audio equipment..The owner well prepared everything for our group including the heater on the floor. We all very appreciated for the hospitality, will come back again.
