He took us to see the footprints he and his friends had carved into the rocks when they were kids, as well as the little kitchen where they used to grill fish together. He told us that this was where he grew up and shared the stories of the distant castle with us. The next night, we retraced the path he had shown us. It was a place only the locals would know. Standing in a small shrine, we listened to the distant sounds of cicadas, the flowing river, and the occasional music drifting from a passing sailboat. Looking up at the sky, we spotted Orion. At that moment, I felt a sudden urge to cry—this island had stood quietly through the passage of time. I couldn’t help but wonder: if I returned in ten years, would everything still be the same? We took a photo of him, hoping that one day we’d have the chance to come back. If we could find this place again, it would be a truly magical feeling. Everything was perfect, the location just a minute away the public ferry, the incredible terrace with breathtaking view over the Nile, spotless clean big room, etc. There was even a sandstorm the night before and when we arrived you couldn't see a grain of sand. Best of all is Mohammed, the owner, who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had all we need. He arrange for someone to come and pick up my heavy suitcase as I was traveling alone with children, organized a really nice captain to visit the Nubian village, etc. Would come back in a heartbeat.
