In short, I definitely recommend staying in Shanti Nivas, I loved my stay there. Jay and Henry were very welcoming, helpful and overall great hosts. Their warm personality makes Shanti Nivas so exceptional. The rooms are spacious, airy, spotless clean and equiped with all the necessary amenities, including net against mosquitos (very useful). Balcony with outside seating area is again spacious and faces the beautiful garden Jay and Henry created. The garden is simply beautiful and it contains sizeable part of all Mauritian plant species (not kidding!), including impressive papaya tree and range of other plants, which attract fruit bats and various bird species. Definitely take the breakfasts, they are served in the garden and very yummy - selection of tropical fruits was lovely, but for me the special highlight was the omelette, the chats, and the red cardinal bird of course :) Also best value for money from the places we stayed in. The only thing to consider for pedestrian travellers is that the road to nearest beach or anywhere outside of the village is a for the adventurous folks as there is not much space for walking on the road and locals drive fast, but you can take local taxis/buses and if you have a car, this is no issue.

With garden views, EvaZion is located in Grande Rivière Sud Est and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden and year-round outdoor pool.

perfect deal if you need a place to stay close to the airport. good ratio price/quality. don’t understand the reviews that say bed is uncomfortable, I had definitely the best nights of sleep during my holiday in Mauritius. we had a lovely room just next to the sea, everything is clean and the staff is lovely

The place and family is amazing! I had a very nice stay there, comfy bed, clean bathroom, a kitchen for use, Julie and Steve are supernice and helped me a lot during my stay there in the cyclone, also there is the possibility to wash your clothes, little garden to relax and read your book

Beautiful beaches , museum and church , amazing restaurants ( coins casse croute, Kim boulette), thale waterfront on Sunday & Monday market really different each days but awesome.
