This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are clean and neat and the garden is lovely. It is close to shops, restaurants, and a beautiful lake. The host is friendly and helpful. He provided us a lot of information. Very pleasant stay. Strongly recommended.

Really welcoming host, the rooms were immaculate, great hot showers, clean bathrooms, one of our favourite stays in a 5 week trip around Sri Lanka. The location and the great field views made it a fantastic place to stay while exploring the temple/ruins. Set back from the main road so it was quiet at night too. The food was absolutely amazing - the breakfast was huge and brilliant value for money at $3 each, don't miss out on the fantastic coconut and honey pancakes. We ate dinner here both nights of our stay and the amazing flavours and generous portions were better than a lot we have seen in restaurants on our travels. The spiced chicken/rice with all the sri lankan side dishes we had was lovely! The host is always there without being intrusive, happy to help book things if needed or just have a chat. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

Binara Home Stay is another ( rare ) example of a special people and place during my trip round Sri Lanka. Yet again i can say, it is people who make a place( even, if the place itself is brilliant). Binara and his lovely family just made my stay there as if we are friends for a long time. Room was clean, comfy, bed really good ( firm mattress), with lovely mosquitere, kept simply but comfy. Terrace/balkony with view over their garden, another BIG feature there 🤗👏. Somebody here (in review section)were complaining about frogs and lizards, none of them presented ( would love to see some lizards or gekon in my bedroom 👏🤞) . Bathroom clean, comfy 👏👍. Last but not least, for some reason, Binara is pricing this „little paradise” at ridicously low price 🙄🤗😉 I’m happy to pay little, but he should in reality price it 2-3 time what is now 😉 All in all, my next trip to Sri Lanka WILL DEFINITELY include Binara Home Stay in „program”, but for 3-4 days, just to sit there and enjoy surroundings. There is a lake there, 5 min walk which is beautyfull and enjoyable to walk along 😉

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. Room is very big, with comfortable beds. Very quiet location. Hot water works very well, there is even a toothpaste. WiFi works very well. We had no mosquitoes. To the historical part you can cycle by bicycle , there is a path, you don’t have to cycle on the highway. The juices are very tasty.

The family is incredibly welcoming, from the parents to the son, that is helping from time to time. The rooms are nice and clean, the bed comfortable and you can rent a bike there to go visit the city (although a bit old they work well). The breakfast was very good. Our only regret was spending only one night here and continue our chat with the son and father. Thank you for the hospitality and the ride to the bus station!
