The man running the hotel is very nice, the food is good (and a lot) and the hotel is in a very nice location. From the inside the hotel looks a bit older, but that's fair for the price you pay.

You cannot go to Sri Lanka and not stay in Rangala House - it is a MUST visit! The property is hidden away in the Knuckles Range and really offers a get away of the best kind. Immersed in beautiful Sri Lankan countryside, I could have stayed here forever. The staff were exceptional and we were incredibly well looked-after for the duration of our visit. They went above and beyond to made sure we were comfortable, that we had everything we needed and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. The food was also incredible and some of the best we ate while in Sri Lanka. It is prepared in front of you over the course of the day and both lunch and dinner were a real feast. What a beautiful place to come and unwind, relax and bask in the very best of what Sri Lanka has to offer.

I had a great stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious, and I really appreciated the free refillable water, the lovely pool, and that both the air conditioning and hot water worked perfectly. There’s also a laundry service available. The location is very quiet and peaceful—just a bit further from the city center, but definitely worth it for the relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

We loved this place. The facilities were perfectly clean and the bed was very confortable. You also have a living room with sofa. The breakfast and the dinner were very good quality meals and very tasty. The staff even served us early so that we could leave for the day, they were very friendly and answering our questions and requests. We felt very welcomed. The owner was not here himself at this moment, however he always made himself present during the whole stay by whatsapp and was able to answer all our questions. He is a wildlife photographer so feel free to ask him if you are also interested in spotting fauna!! You can rent a scooter to the homestay. Thanks to the owner recommandations, we went to Dotalugala to hike a bit, and the view to get there during the scooter ride was magnificent. In a sunny days you can see the mountains. Always propre a raincoat as the weather changes unexpectedly. If you are brave enough, you can drive 3h to visit the village of Meemure, at the end of that same road. Driving there is so beautiful that time flies. It is easy to come from Kandy, go to the bus station and ask for Wegala, the destination is usually Hunnasgiriya or further.

Rajiva was an excelllent host and guid. We spent here magnificent three days. The surrounding tea plantations and mountains have amazing views. The area is very authentic without many tourists, but with friendly local people, beautiful nature and lot of wild birds. The accommodation is very comfortable, beds as well. The balcony view is the best, we loved good breakfast with this view. The owner arranged for us transport to the next destination. Once again, thanks a lot Rajiva.

Stayed 1 night at this magical place and wish we had more time to enjoy this amazing property. We really wanted to fit in a round of golf before leaving Sri Lanka and were very lucky to have spent the night at Bougainvillea Retreat, who very kindly offered us a late checkout as we were flying out in the middle of the night, which meant we had time for 18 holes on our last day, we loved absolutely everything, the food was spectacular. Chef met us on arrival and discussed food preferences and so tailored the menu to our liking. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both served on the terrace with magnificent views of the mountains and reservoir. Our room was comfortable, well appointed, spacious and again with stunning views of the surroundings Service was welcoming, warm, above and beyond, even with so little time, our laundry was washed, and ironed in 24 hours. The property and grounds are well kept and probably the cleanest we have experienced on our trip! Our only regret is that we had so little time here. We hope to visit again. Thank you to the staff and of course every precious pet too for a thoroughly (albeit short) enjoyable stay

From the roof terrasse you see the five Knucles Peaks. Three waterfalls are within walking distance. And the coffee and tea, you drink is from the small estate around the House. Don’t expect Hilton-style-luxury. Expect something much better! This is a homestay on it’s way to become a small hotel. Very personal service from the owner, Rohan, who is a man of the world with many years of travel behind him. He speaks good english and is ready to help with directions for the easy hikes, and get you in contact with a local skilled guide to the mountains (necessary!) His own estate offers a beautiful short hike: From the top, you have a 360-view of the many peaks around it. Possibly the most beautiful place in the world. Go! (Nb! Remember to bring Long pants, leech-socks, leech-protection-balm and bud-reppelant. Then you will be fine.)
