I don't even know where to start! Such an amazing location! The garden is incredibly beautiful, the location quiet and peaceful and yet in walking distance to a supermarket and the village. Clean rooms and facilities, mega comfortable beds, mosquito nets. So cozy! The kitchen! Ellie is a gem, her food and fresh fruit juices were absolutely outstanding. The staff in general was extremely helpful, responsive, very very sweet and made us feel right at home. They couldn't have a better crew to be running the place! Huge compliments, ya'll absolutely lovely people (and canines)! 🌼 Highly recommended to choose the jungle trek with Cheeky Monkeys as well! Our fantastic guides made it an unforgettable experience, it absolutely exceeded any expectations by far! Very empathatic, super patient, knowledgeable and respectful towards this special environment - we couldn't have imagined better jungle guides, nor a better trekking experience! 11/10 stars, thank you loads! 😍

I will never forget my time in Batu Kapal! The guest house is surrounded by a jungle landscape that was more beautiful than I could have imagined. There is a river close by that is perfect for a refreshing swim. The best of all: The exciting wildlife, filled with unique animals I’ve never seen in my entire life. When I woke up and looked around, there was a wild Orang-Utan mom with her child! At first I couldn't believe my eyes and thought I was still asleep - but they were actually there! We also visited a waterfall which I had a lot of fun at. The family who lovingly built the site, could not have been more welcoming. Not only were they incredibly friendly, but they were also funny and caring, and they shared with me their immense knowledge of the Sumatran wilderness. The food was delicious and many of the ingredients were freshly gathered near the property. I realized that one night was way too short and I spontaneously decided to stay 4 more nights. I recommend this place from the bottom of my heart! I will come again one day, that’s for sure.

Our stay here was amazing! The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, bathroom also nice and everything is clean. Also the room has a big balcony with incredible view. The staff was also great, we arranged everything we needed through them and it was not a problem. We also booked a one day jungle trek with them and it was excellent. Our guide Dani and his brother were good guides and also very nice people.

It’s in the heart of a jungle. It’s an amazing place to feel the jungle. Birds, macaques, and all that other animals from the jungle whether you see or not were so incredible. The accomodation part was lovely too. Very basic, not even rustic but again can’t really complain about it. Udin and his family run this business. They provide food and water if you booked the orangutan hike with them

Amazing stay in Bukit Lawang! Could not have imagined it being any better :) The rooms were spacious and clean, we stayed in both rooms and both were great! The cheaper room has a garden view and the more expensive one the view onto the rice fields, which was a really nice bonus. Wifi worked well all the time. The guesthouse is located 10-15 mins walking time to the village, where you find a supermarket and a few warungs, where you can get a tasty and very cheap dinner. We didn't find the location problematic, rather nice as we were out in the quiet :) All the staff was always extremely friendly and helpful! They all together with the host Bayu made us feel more like family or close friends rather than just guests, which made it difficult to leave the place! We also booked a 2-day jungle trekking with Bayu - our guides were Jipour and Ali - awesome experience with lots of information and great fun, incl. spotting big and small animals, and, of course, orangutans :) Highly recommended! :)

We had an awesome stay at Sama Sama Homestay. The owners are so welcoming, kind and friendly, so we directly felt comfortable. The brewed us delicious coffee each day and were always up for some nice and interesting smalltalk. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and we especially liked the balcony area to take some coffee and relax. We recommend a stay here!!

Arif is a very friendly host. Great room, directly in nature. Keep in mind that the homestay is quite far away, especially when you have heavy luggage. But they offer a porter service.

Alek is the most helpful homestay host we have had. He managed to sort out our 3D2N trek the night before we wanted to go and he lent us his bike to travel to an ATM. The location is ideal and lots of nice places to eat right outside. Well worth the price!!

Arif and Risky are great hosts. The hotel is 30 minutes walking into the jungle and in a nice quiet area. Al you can hear is the river flowing by, the animals and the rain on the roof Awesome jungle trekking with Wanda and Juli. And great local food at night made by Risky.

We liked everything ! - The place lost in the middle of the jungle - The kindness of the staff - Amazing food - The jungle vibes in the home stay - The comfortable room - If you are lucky you can see orange outang directly from the guesthouse - The trek in the jungle with amazing guides that became friends - Really cool activities: swimming in the river, playing volleyball - When the night comes, you can enjoy with the staff some local music with guitar !
