Ollantaytambo
Offering rooms with impeccable rustic style décor and garden views, this inn just 30 km off Machu Picchu, features red-tiled terraced Spanish galleries and views of the surrounding scenery. Wi-Fi is free. Staying at El Albergue Ollantaytambo was genuinely one of the best decisions we made on the trip, hands down. First off, the location is perfect. Ollantaytambo itself is a fascinating town with a history to match—it’s the only one still using the Inca grid system! Plus, it offers two great, fun treks: the ruins and the granaries. But the real boon is its position right AT the station, making it the ultimate base for Machu Picchu. Getting up a couple of hours earlier than everyone else for the trek is great, but there's nothing better than coming back and immediately checking in instead of having to deal with another grueling 2-4 hour bus ride back to Cusco. It's also much more comfortable being at 9,500 ft instead of the 11,500 ft elevation of Cusco. Beyond the incredible convenience, El Albergue is simply an exceptional hotel in its own right. The service is beyond reproach; everyone on the property was so incredibly friendly and attentive. It truly makes the entire experience. The rooms are impeccably designed and wonderfully comfortable. I have to specifically shout out the gorgeous art throughout the rooms and common areas—it’s stunning, and seemingly much of it is from the proprietor, Wendy Weeks. The on-site amenities are another huge plus. The restaurant has exceptional food, and breakfast starts early (6 a.m.) with a great variety. You absolutely MUST book the wonderful Pachamanca lunch beforehand. They also have a local coffee roastery and a distillery right there; we had a great tour at both and really enjoyed the products, especially the Matacuy. Oh, and there are the most adorable dogs on the property, too! Overall, El Albergue was one of our favorite stays in Peru. We had a great time and are genuinely looking forward to coming back.

Nice hotel in a small quieter street of Ollantaytambo yet close to the Plaza de Armas. rooms are nice and comfy, the staff super nice and helpful and breakfast was excellent (freshly squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, bread butter and jam and more !) The view from the rooftop (where breakfast is served) on the fortress is incredible!
Very quaint, cosy and comfortable hotel. Amazing hosts and delicious breakfast. Room could do with a couple of extra hooks to hang towels or jackets, but otherwise great. Short stroll to the plaza de arma through the very cute town of Ollantaytambo. Overall, excellent value for money.
Great location on quiet street (no cars) with view overlooking the Inca Site. We had use of their kitchen to cook basic meals. They also gave us a heater for a small fee to help with the cold June nights. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful and arranged a taxi back to Cusco at a very reasonable rate.
Great hostel, phenomenal location and views, 5 minutes walk from the centre. Always kept very clean. Good showers. Strong fast WiFi. Clean and AMAZING kitchen full of utensils free to use. Helpful and friendly staff. Owner is very nice. Can rent towels n yoga mats for very cheap. Laundry service is very convenient.
Great host. Great location. Good wifi connection and breakfast
Jorge was the most wonderful host, Parwa Guesthouse is more like a traditional bed and breakfast experience, it really feels like home. Our room was incredibly comfortable, it was spacious but felt so cosy. We stayed here before and after visiting Machu Picchu, Jorge allowed us to leave our luggage in the room as he had no booking for the night we were away, this was incredibly kind. Do yourself a favor and stay here, it’s simply magic!
