Big and clean room, comfortable bed, with hot water. The ceiling fan was not functioning but they gave us a stand fan, which worked. But what made this place stand out is the very accommodating nature of Dimu and his staff. The breakfast was also delicious, the dhal curry is to die for. They also offered private transfer to neighbouring towns at affordable prices. They also offer affordable but very experienced safari guide (Sumudu) - we saw elephants at places where no one else was there. Definitely worth booking if you’re going for the safari!

The place has two rooms, located behind the family house in a little private heaven. The rooms and the window view are as good as photos show! Rooms, bathroom and verandas super clean. Breakfast is served on an elegant teak wood table, next to the rooms. The fresh mango juice was so good!!! Janith, arrange a safari for us at a very good price. We saw lots of elephants, water buffalo, birds, deer and monkeys. Great experience. Totally recomment it!

Amazing hosts. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. They arranged our transportation to and from the hotel, our safari, a hike and temple visit and informed us of a near by pool we could use. All of the meals were fantastic. Best part of our trip to Sri Lanka!

Hasthi safari was really really cute! Family run guesthouse, with private and quite garden. The meal are delicious and the staff can settle for you transfer and beatiful safari! We love it!!

We got to stay in the new accommodation across the road, so comfortable and spacious, in the middle of the banana trees, surrounded by lush nature. We even saw a toucan! We had a great swim in the nearby river with the host’s kids (so cute and sweet), by the way they do everything as a family so don’t be surprised if they come wish you good morning as a group lol. Of course we also did a safari organised by the host and it was definitely worth it. We really recommend this place - a bit secluded from the center of Udawalawa but you don’t need to go outside, everything is provided.

Everything about this place was fantastic! Very nice owner, who made sure we had a wonderful stay. Free bikes to use. Delicious breakfast! It's an excellent and peaceful location with a beautiful view of the river. The room was spacious and very clean. Would highly recommend staying here if you come to Udawalawe. HOW TO GET THERE: If you're coming by bus from Thanamalwila, insist the busdriver to stop at the busstop of Udawalawe Hydro Power Plant at the mainroad, it's a 30min walk from there. Otherwise the busdriver seems to drop off all tourists at the junction which is 4km away, collaborating with the tuktuks as you have no other option than to take an overpriced tuktuk. If you travel onward to Embilipitiya, the busstop is just a 5 min walk from the mainroad of the accomodation. Turn left and walk to the bridge. It's the starting point of the bus to Embilipitiya, where you can take another bus to the south/Tangalle.
