Situated in Udawalawe, 15 km from Udawalawe National Park, Rustic Cottages Udawalawe features air-conditioned accommodation and a garden. The cottage itself resembles a countryside home vibe and the owner is the most friendly and welcoming person. He arranged us a great full day safari, which was also nothing less than amazing. We then had dinner at the property, the owners family prepared wonderful Sri Lankan curry with rice. Everything about this place is worth it!

Located just down the road from the National Park so it's the most perfect resting spot either before or after a Safari. You cannot really describe the tranquility and peaceful ambiance of this hotel, it is incredible! The rooms are immaculately clean, really comfortable and well presented. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and were so kind and friendly to both us and our children. The hotel has a fantastic pool which is the perfect place to cool off in the afternoon. The food is some of the best that we have tasted whilst travelling Sri Lanka, completely delicious and freshly cooked dinner and breakfast. The value for money is excellent and you get the feel of high end at a really reasonable price. I'd say that this hotel is a must stay whilst visiting this area. We plan to return on our next trip. At the guest house, every unit has a desk. With a private bathroom equipped with a shower and slippers, units at the guest house also provide guests with free WiFi, while selected rooms include a balcony. At the guest house, all units are fitted with bed linen and towels. This was fantastic accommodation. Run by Anju and his family. The photos don’t do it justice - it’s way nicer, more modern. The bed is comfortable, I loved the shower with skyview and the net in front of the cottage to relax. We also took the safari day trip arranged by Anju with safari guide Patum and it was just perfect. We got a lovely breakfast inside the park and in the afternoon also lunch. During the tour there was always cold water and we got coconut to drink. And we saw plenty of elephants, buffalos, lizzards, deers, two kinds of monkeys, birds and much more! In the end, Anju arranged taxi driver to our next destination. Totally recommended!!

It was private and beautiful and much better than the photos. The food was excellent and generous . They also provide safari wich was amazing with a lot of animals and additional time . We was even lucky and spotted a leopard. The hoke experience was very nice. We recommend the place and the safari guide.

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the owners go out of their way to help you. We have been travelling through India and Sri Lanka for a few months and this is one of our favourite stays. We're always nervous about reading 10* reviews but do trust this one! Ps I'm gluten free and this was no problem. They even made a special picnic breakfast for me AND they offer safaris if needed.
