Situated in Pahala Maragahawewa, within 33 km of Kumbichchan Kulama Tank and 33 km of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, Wilpattu Restaurant & Guest house features accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. The property is located 35 km from Nature Park Anuradhapura, 35 km from Anuradhapura Railway Station and 35 km from Kuttam Pokuna, Twin Ponds. The property is non-smoking and is set 34 km from Kada Panaha Tank. Even before I arrived the host messaged me and helped me get the bus from Anuradhapura, then arranged a tuktuk when I missed the stop. A tasty dinner was provided even though the restaurant was closed due to Poya Day. Advice about safaris, then safari was booked at short notice. A packed breakfast was provided for the early start. I was planning on taking a train onwards to Mannar, but he called and checked and found out it was cancelled, then helped me with bus arrangements, and flagging it down. This place was a great base for Wilpattu safaris, affordable, clean, and a friendly family. And a beautiful sunset!

At the guest house, the units are fitted with a desk. All units come with a private bathroom equipped with a bath, while selected rooms have a fully equipped kitchen. The units include a outdoor furniture. Everything was just as promised. There were no other guests that night so I had the living room and verandah to myself. Everything went as expected.

Accessible via private entrance, all units have air conditioning, soundproofing, desk and a private bathroom with a shower. There is a seating and a dining area in all units. At the guest house, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Great location. Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

Kadahatha Wawa Lake is 1.7 km from the guest house, while Habarana Lake is 2.2 km from the property. Sigiriya Airport is 11 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. Kalhara made our stay perfect. He organized wonderful tours (safari, temples, dance show), and her wife prepared amazing breakfast and dinner! Everyday we had a different menu, always good and with Sri Lankan delicacies. The room was huge, spotless clean, with a very comfortable bed. The garden is beautiful, with palm trees and flowers, with a nice patio where we relaxed before dinner.. We had also a very nice walk close to the lake and ricefields, from the road in front of the hotel. We strongly recommend Swan lake to everyone wants to enjoy Habarana area

Great, honest service. Host (Ruwan) works hard to accommodate any need/request and makes great recommendations for local tours/attractions. We especially enjoyed the cultural dance and the (free!) local spice tour. Breakfast and overall vibe were great! This eco-lodge is next to the jungle, expect to be right up with nature, which is part of the experience!

At the guest house, all units are allergy-free and soundproof. Staying at Sweet Home Tourist Rest turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our trip to Sri Lanka. It’s rare to find a place that offers both great value and a truly personal touch , but this one does exactly that. Instead of just a room, we had an entire private apartment, including a comfortable living room, which gave us so much space to relax. It was quiet, clean, and located in a peaceful part of town, making it easy to rest and recharge between our adventures. And considering the price, it felt like an absolute steal. What really made this stay unforgettable were the authentic experiences arranged by the hosts. Nilukshan helped us explore some of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sites with thoughtfully organized tours, the Wilpattu safari was stunning, and our visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale gave us a deep appreciation for the country’s culture and history. Everything was well-timed, smooth, and stress-free. We also had the chance to join a Sri Lankan cooking class with Malsha, which ended up being one of our favorite memories. The class was fun, hands-on, and filled with flavor, we left not just with full stomachs, but with recipes and techniques we can take home with us. If you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, if you want comfort, authenticity, and connection this is the place. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Even though the property is a bit away from the main road, we were always provided with transportation as and when required at a very good price. They also helped arrange the village tour and Minneria Safari at a competitive price. Always willing to sort out things for you, you just have to mention something and they would be able to arrange it for you.
