The owner is very friendly and helpful, and the beds and public spaces are well kept. The location is very good too, within walking distance of downtown areas and Hirome Market. The dorm beds were actual mattresses, so they were very comfortable, and the bunks came with many sockets and accessories (fan, light, clothes line, tissues). It’s a refurbished house, so it felt very cozy. It was comfortable and I enjoyed talking to other guests and the owner. It was a superb stay, one of the best guesthouses I’ve ever stayed at! We’ve been travelling for 25 days in Japan with our family of 4 and this has been our best experience. We arrived after riding our bikes all day and were greeted by the hosts with hot orange juice, tips on where to get food and even got a lift to get take out as they informed us the best restaurants might be closing soon. Our kids even got a present in the morning. Everything in the room is thought out - the bunk beds are bigger than normal with power outlets. There are Imabari towels. The showerhead is glorious. There is a lot more space then the pictures give away and you wake up with amazing sea view. If you’re doing the Shimanami Kaido or are looking for a place near the beach - stay here.

The house is beautifully designed and we loved that it's different than most Japanese guest houses. It's lovely to have such a modern and cozy concept in a small town, away from the crowds. There is actually a lot of charm in the town and it was one of our favorite stops on a month-long trip to Japan. That is also because of Alrik, who manages the property. He was so kind, hospitable, and friendly! We felt welcomed as friends, not just hotel guests. He did everything we could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a beautiful forest around, the view from the top of the town is lovely, so is the walk by the river and sunset. The Shinto shrine was such a special experience too! Thank you, Alrik and Next Chapter for this beautiful stay! We will come back to the area just to visit the guest house again, especially if Alrik is still running it!
