It had one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in, and the floors were also amazing to walk on. Overall very very clean, and the ambiance was calm and soothing.

This nearly 130-year-old house, carefully maintained by its owner, retains the marks of time while exuding a unique charm and a warm wooden atmosphere. Whether it’s the well-equipped facilities, the abundant amenities, the meticulous attention to detail and decor, or the overall comfort of the stay, everything reflects thoughtful care and a perfectly balanced sense of homeliness. Mike’s hospitality added the perfect touch to our trip! Not only did he provide valuable advice for planning our itinerary and choosing restaurants, but his patience and attentiveness also allowed us to truly experience the unique charm of Nara. His warm reception and thoughtful assistance became a memorable highlight of our family trip to this city. The only regret we had was that our time in Nara was too short to fully immerse ourselves in the slow-paced beauty of this city and to thoroughly appreciate the charm of this house. We sincerely hope that future travelers will allow more time to savor the elegance of this ancient city and to bask in the stories and warmth this historic house holds through the passage of time.

This was by far my favourite stay of my Japan trip. Not only was the guest house absolutely stunning and tastefully furnished, within very close proximity to the deer park, I was welcomed so warmly and it really felt like home for the night I was there. This is more than just a guest house- this is a beautiful place to bring people from all around the world together.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!
