In addition, the location of the guesthouse in ideal as you can walk to many places such as the famous tree, the library and the onsen itself. Also, the room is spacious and the bed is comfy. We stayed in a room that accommodated 4 people in Japanese styled bedrooms. A traditional home, it was a beautiful experience. The hostess was so helpful, accommodating and warm. She helped ensure we had the best stay and got to know the local restaurants and shops. Would stay here again!

43 km from Mount Aso, hostel+cafe たね is a recently renovated property situated in Hōgano and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Housed in a building dating from 2023, this guest house is 47 km from the Lake Ezu. The guest house has family rooms. Charming location. Beautiful traditional Japanese house. We brought pot noodles as worried there would be nowhere to eat but didn't need to worry as helpful host gave us directions to an izikaya a couple of kilometres away. Good if you have a car but probably not ideal to walk at night as not much pavement or lighting. Wish we had a bit more time to enjoy setting.

Now my second time and my go for place to stay on this beautiful island. i enjoy the tatami room, but also there is one room with a western bed. a kitchen with everything what is needed to prepare food and tea / coffee. I hope you enjoy this place like I do.

This guest house offers free private parking and luggage storage space. The property is non-smoking and is set 13 km from Takeo-Onsen Station. So cool to stay in an old, traditional house, which had everything we needed. Owner was super friendly and even had some free pottery we were welcome to take. (And he had great suggestions for where to eat nearby and even left us some instant ramen to eat, if we got hungry.) The futon heaters were great and definitely needed when a cold wind storm blew in!
