The communal areas were really comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly want - including lovely pottery. The host was extremely helpful and caring. Only 5 minutes walk from the station and 15 minutes to convenience stores. This would make an ideal base for trips to Hirazumi, the gorge, and the Goishi Coast - I really wish I had stayed longer.

The owner is nice. She showed us some beautiful places when we arrived and drove us to the station when we had to leave.

Buchoho no yado was exactly what I needed during the busy New Year festivities. It was quiet, peaceful and I could enjoy the facilities at my own leisure. I was able to do laundry, cook meals, relax in the lounge or in my room. It was ideal. It was perfectly located for shrine visits as it was just down the street from Hachimangu Shrine. It is a short walk from the bus centre, about 10mins from the train station by bus. The room was Japanese style and very comfortable. Mattresses and futon are available so be sure to confirm which will be available in your room before your visit. 😊 Bicycles are available to use too. I did not use them during my stay but which was a nice offering! I would love to visit Morioka again and would definitely make a booking with Buchoho no Yado again. Thank you so much!

I had forgotten something in the room and couldn't return to grab it in fear of missing my train, and a staff member drove to the train station to give it to me. The breakfast was super tasty as well, and the house was very charming.

The owner (sorry, forgot the name!) constantly updated us on the situation. He helped me to cancel my next hostel bc it wasn't possible to travel with everything shut down. Although plans were disrupted, I had an amazing time in Miyako with the other guests staying there. Highly recommended, as it's only 5 min walk to the train/bus stops, with a 7-11 nearby as well. Miyako has a really vibrant nightlife (wouldn't know if not for the typhoon and the fellow guests who showed us around!) .. will be back!
