The lady who greeted me (I never asked her name, sorry!!) was absolutely lovely and very helpful. Even though I arrived around 10:15 pm, she was there to give lots of helpful information. The bed was comfy and the room was very nice. The food in the restaurant was also delicious! Aside from the guesthouse, the neighbourhood was wonderful. It felt so nice and quiet, and the nearby Mitaki-dera was beautiful! I started my first morning with a walk around the temple and then a hike up to the top of Sokayama, which had a beautiful viewpoint.

Here you can live inside the village just next to a shrine and hear the bell sounds in the evening. A unique experience. Needless to say it was super clean, comfy with everything you need (a fridge, kitchen and more). The owner is so caring and super friendly! Stay longer than you planed and dive into the quite village live. <3

If you are wondering if you should stay here or not, the answer is yes. It is a bit of a walk from the train station, but it is one of the best places I've stayed at while traveling in Japan and right by the river! The host is extremely amiable and easy to talk to. The guesthouse exudes charm with wooden flooring, stained glass and is well kept and clean. I love the wooden turning chairs, rental bike option and the many amenities provided. It is also one of the most comfortable beds and softest blankets I've had and you will have to work to leave the bed because it's so soft and comfy.

Wow, that view! This guesthouse has the most spectacular location. We stayed in the Sakura room and were greeted with a magnificent sunrise. The cafe downstairs is a lovely spot for a coffee or a whisky highball in the evening, watching the lights wink on in Onomichi.

We had an excellent 3 night stay here! It's a beautiful big traditional Japanese house with the host living in a separate house next door. There are 3 rooms in the house so there is the potential to be sharing with other guests. Toilets, shower rooms and kitchen are shared. Our room was huge with futons, a table, and sliding doors that opened up to a view of the garden. It was lovely to be able to hear the river rushing by right beside the house, and cool to stay in a quiet little neighborhood. The #29 bus is very easy to catch to and from Hiroshima station and it runs super frequently, so it wasn't a problem being slightly out from the city centre. We had a very relaxed and peaceful stay here and would definitely come back again. Thank you to our wonderful and friendly host Kengo!
