Situated in Tuk Tuk, Matraville Home Stay Tuk Tuk Lake Toba Samosir features accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The guest house has family rooms. Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. Jhony is very friendly and helpful with any questions. Place is nice and quiet and just a short walk to main part of town. Jungle trek was a great experience and his young helper Lana went out his way to make sure we had a great experience. Would highly recommend

This beachfront property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a comfy and very convenient guesthouse. The staff is really kind and helpfull. They also organize great trekking tours to the jungle. And the location of the guest house is great. Right next to the river. From the terasse you can look down on the river and enjoy the village life.

With mountain views, Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa is situated in Bukit Lawang and has a restaurant, full-day security, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The rooms are fitted with a balcony with garden views and free WiFi. The best part of the property is the staff. Owner, Tyson welcomed me explained everything needed. A young lady working at the cafe (Diza, sorry if I mistaken the name)made me one of the best meals in Indonesia I’ve ever tried. Sweet dog and cat were also welcoming and slept under my room’s door at night.The room was simple but very clean with beautiful garden setting. The location is a little bit out of town, but walkable and very quiet. Tyson also organized a jungle trek for me and that was also very good. We saw 8 orangutans)

Located in Bukit Lawang, Gino's Place - Guest House & Jungle Trekking features a garden, terrace, restaurant, and free WiFi throughout the property. There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. Very clean and modern bungalows and very friendly staff! The restaurant serves really good food. Gino also arranged a very professional and fun 2-day jungle trekking from the premises. Would love to come back. The staff is really helpful and are there to make sure you have a wonderful time.

At the hotel, every room is fitted with a balcony. At Sahnan Guest House the rooms come with a private bathroom. There was nothing not to love here. The property was clean and well-located, the staff went above and beyond for us by helping us organize rides and activities, the bed was quite comfortable, and the food at the restaurant was tasty and cheap. With the river running by so close, it felt like we were staying at an alpine lodge! The family running the guest house is extremely kind. We couldn’t recommend this place enough. Make sure to bring cash with you, though. As of writing this it’s a cash-only town with the nearest ATM about 7km away.

À la carte and Asian breakfast options with local specialities, fruits and juice are available. At the guest house, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner and lunch and serves Indonesian cuisine. Best part about this place is the hospitality and the atmosphere, the hosts are wonderfully warm and hospitable. The atmosphere is so peaceful and beautiful. Lots of greens and plants around, lovely village like location. You will have a peace of mind here.

At the guest house, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. This was such an amazing place. The owners Sarah and August welcomed us very friendly. We had a pickup at the bus station. The rooms were nice, spacious and comfortable. The food was tasty and for reasonable price. We did 3 days trekking with guide Bai and friends and had so much fun. We saw tons of animals including wild orangutan, siamangs, argus and turtles. The camping in nature was simple but very fun and the food was amazing. We felt like in a family. Thank you 🙂
