Xantha is great for two reasons: the stunning view of the Pagasetic Gulf, the mountains and Volos; and the really wonderful lady who is now running the place (and who also speaks very good English). One should take into account that the road up is steep, narrow and at some places winding, not an easy one, and it's best to have a good engine, but it's well worth it for the view from your little balcony and the friendliness and generosity of the hostess: who not only invited me to eat as many of the ripe figs from the trees as I possibly could, but even paid my bill with the dinner delivery man (you can order food up) since I was in the shower!... As well as your own balcony, there's also a verandah off the drawing room with its own view of the Gulf, and the outside patio sitting area is especially nice. There's an open bar in the main drawing room of the hotel where you can make yourself herb tea from a varied selection, or of course coffee. So unless you would find the drive up difficult, Xantha is very highly recommended!

Panos and his wife were amazing hosts. The pension is in a great location, surrounded with beautiful natural beauty. The breakfast was all local food that Panos’s wife cooked especially every morning! Plus, Panos had great recommendations for must see places around the area. Very nice small family run hotel. It is clean and very close to the beach and boardwalk. There are several taverns, a bakery and a supermarket nearby. The room was cleaned and tidied every day. The owner Luisa is a very kind and responsive woman. We are grateful to her for all the care she took for us. We would happily stay there again.
