The room was big and bright, with everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was simple, but everything was fresh and tasty. The surroundings of the Chateau looks nice, I wish we would have been there e.g. in June. Ms. Laura was very friendly and polite.

Staying at Château de Contay Guesthouse was an amazing experience that we will never forget. It was only after arriving that we understood that we were the only guests, having the castle all by ourselves (together with the peacock and some hens in the garden). The historical environment and beautiful original interior and furniture made it feel like staying in a museum oozing with ambience and ready to be explored. In the morning we were served a wonderful breakfast. This is something more than a guesthouse. It is a magical castle experience.

From the reception by Sarah to the departure was an excellent stay, it was an attic (up 2 flights) in a very spacious room. We had the evening meal with lots of lovely food, not expensive and the ice cream sundae with fruit from their garden was exceptional (Michael was the waiter) We had a very restful night and felt refreshed, ready for the next stage of our journey. The breakfast(included in the room price was excellent with fresh bread and another fruit sundae. Could not have faulted anything.(but see below)

The hosts were so kind, caring and giving! Sarah gave tips for places to visit nearby like restaurants and cultural activities. They prepared us a full French breakfast every morning and it was always super delicious! Comfy beds and warm shower. I honestly have zero minpoints about our stay at La Chasse Royale. Everything went smooth, check-in, check-out, bed-/bathroom, location, kitchen and neighbourhood. It is close to Paris by car and totally reachable for short visits. Position is excellent, in upper part of city and an easy walk to centre and cathedral. Quiet street. On Saturdays in summer they close off a section of the old town for festivities till 1am. Maison Seraphine is just far enough away not to hear the noise. Pierre is an excellent host Breakfast was great, with fresh fruit and you could squeeze your own fresh orange juice; Pierre even produced scrambled egg. The house is old and quaint but our room was comfortable and spacious with a good walk in shower. There does not seem to be a problem with parking right outside. We came by train. Take a #4 bus from the station and get off at St Martin, only 1.20 euro. Laon is well worth the visit with relatively few tourists. The cathedral is magnificent, must be one of the finest in France. Some good restaurants and if you want a lighter meal, try a platter from the Fromagerie des Remparts.
