Staying at Shimbwe Meadows Home was an unforgettable experience — peaceful, authentic, and full of heart. Nestled on the lush slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, this gem offers an immersive escape into nature and local culture that you just can’t get at a typical hotel. The location is breathtaking. Surrounded by greenery, banana trees, and rolling hills, you wake up to the sound of birds and a view of the mountain (on clear days) that’s simply magical. It’s the perfect base if you’re exploring the Kilimanjaro region or just looking to relax in a serene, off-the-beaten-path setting. The home itself is cozy, clean, and beautifully maintained. Each room has a warm, rustic charm with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The beds are comfy, the showers hot, and everything feels thoughtfully put together. What truly sets Shimbwe Meadows apart is the incredible hospitality. The hosts go above and beyond to make you feel like family. They’re knowledgeable about the area, always ready to share stories, and can help arrange hikes, cultural visits, and even local cooking experiences. The meals are home-cooked and absolutely delicious, made with fresh local ingredients — don’t miss the traditional Chagga dishes! Dining here feels like sharing a meal with friends. If you’re looking for an authentic Tanzanian experience away from tourist crowds, Shimbwe Meadows Home is a must-visit. It’s not just a place to stay — it’s a place to connect with nature, culture, and kind-hearted people. Highly recommended for hikers, nature lovers, solo travelers, couples, or anyone seeking peace and authenticity in Kilimanjaro.

I booked a room, not expecting much for the price i paid, just a bed to sleep in. Was I wrong in the best way possible. The room was lovely with a massive bathroom and large shower. I enjoyed coffees out on the porch in the mornings.

My stay at Mahali House in Moshi was simply super! From the moment I checked in, I was greeted by the friendly and warm-hearted staff who made me feel instantly welcome. Every team member was extremely helpful and always went above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. :) Another major plus was the staff's assistance in organizing excursions. Thanks to their helpful tips and excellent arrangements, I was able to go on incredible tours in the surrounding area. Furthermore the kitchen was great to be able to cook our own meals - maybe also great if you want to stay for a longer term. The combination of excellent service, super clean and nice chambers, and fantastic support for excursions makes it the perfect place to stay in Moshi. I highly recommend Mahali House to everyone and am already looking forward to my next visit! :)

Beautiful guesthouse, lovely helpful staff, tasty food. I cant imagine a more lovely place to stay, it's even nicer than the photos show. Setting is in a quiet jungle village away from noise and dust.
