You have to stay here! Thilan and his family made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived — greeted with flowers, garlands, and fresh watermelon juice. Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with a comfy bed, great shower, and lovely balcony. The bed was huge, the bathroom lovely, and there was plenty of space (plus a drying rack for swimwear!). The shower takes a minute to heat up, but with the warm weather, it’s hardly needed. Rooms aren’t serviced daily unless requested, but Thilan is very responsive on WhatsApp for anything you need. Both breakfast and dinner were the best we had in Sri Lanka — fresh fruit, smoothies, and amazing Sri Lankan dishes made with spices and coconuts from their garden. Absolutely delicious! Thilan helped organise all our transfers, and the rooftop views and peaceful atmosphere made our stay perfect. It’s a short walk to the beach and felt very safe. Thilan also helped organise a mobile massage therapist so I was able yo have a massage on the rooftop, which was amazing with the sea breeze. We left feeling so cared for — this stay will always be a special memory. Thilan and his family went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable. We left feeling like part of the family. Thank you for making our stay so memorable. Stay here, eat here, and you’ll see why everyone loves it!

The place was very clean. The room was small but cosy for us as a couple. There was a shared kitchen that had what you would need to prepare meals. The hosts were very wonderful and generous, and went out of their way to give us tea and snacks at times. I would definitely recommend staying here. It is also very close by to cafes, restaurants and the supermarket. You can find the public entrance to Mirissa beach after a 5min walk on the main road.

Really lovely new guesthouse, ran by a very helpful friendly family. Only a few minutes walk from nice resturants, bars and the ocean and the room was very clean. Really appreciated the strong air con and hot powerful shower! Comfy bed, modern facilities and set back from the road a little so it was nice and quiet at night.We could easily walk to the popular surf point nearby too. One of the nicest places I've stayed in sri lanka!

Extremely welcoming and helpful family. Lovely property with nice new fresh rooms. I was stuck with nowhere to stay due to a misunderstanding. They took me in late at night, I had no bags with me, they gave me PJ's which was honestly such a lovely lovely thing to do. The breakfast the next-day was gorgeous. Dhal, sambol, potato curry, hoppers, the lot!! 2 types of desert. Genuinely lovely people. AND THEIR DOG!!! omg, the cutest fluff Ball I've ever seen.

We were really lucky to find this place and spent 11 nights here! If we come back to Sri Lanka, we will definitely stay in Sandbank again. New, clean, comfortable room with cozy terrace. Super-friendly, caring staff - they were always ready to help with ALL our requests. We felt ourselves very welcomed guests - not just regular clients. The place is located in quiet part of Madiha which was important for us - no loud music and parties around. There is no usual beach nearby but for us it was advantage as we don’t like crowds and swimming - just be in the ocean and jump with waves) Just several moments were specific and could be important to know in advance: there is no hot water (it’s not cold of course, just fresh), WiFi didn’t work in our room (n3), just on terrace - but this points just details, not problems and it couldn’t mess up our stay in such a great place.

Extremely Pleasant Stay! I received a warm welcome with flowers, and the welcome drink made from the garden was fabulous. I stayed two nights at Sheru Guest in Matara, and it truly felt like home. The owner and their family were very friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi was excellent, and the place was calm and quiet — perfect for relaxing. The guesthouse has everything you need, including a kitchen and washing machine. It's also conveniently located near the Nilwala River and its mouth, and just a short distance to Polhena and Madiha beaches. Highly recommended for a peaceful and comfortable stay!
