Guesthouse Kinari was exceptional and we are so thankful we had the opportunity to stay at this lovely space. It also serves as a center for the community children and also persons with disabilities to gather, and spaces like this are so important for the community as everyone is able to use the space. The room we stayed in was also really comfortable and spacious, with great beds and a big toilet that comes with a bathtub! The entire facility is yours and in the morning, people from the community also gather in the facility and we even got to enjoy the loveliest breakfast of onigiri and miso soup together. The owner also provided a personal guide of places to see in the neighbourhood that was really insightful. I cannot stress how grateful we are to have been able to stay here and we are so thankful to the people who continue to work so hard at Guesthouse Kinari so that everyone can feel right at home at this space. Thank you again!

The son and mother running the guesthouse were wonderful. It's a beautiful location, and because it is fairly far from the station, the son picked us up in his van at the station. We did have to call him to get us (which we knew ahead of time), so it's important to have the capability to do so or otherwise arrange it with the guesthouse host. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen at the hotel with included yukatas and our very spacious room (had a heater/AC as well!). The sheets and yukatas and towels were impeccably clean and pressed. The son and mother had a lovely cafe with free beverages downstairs, and they also had a wonderful breakfast we paid for in the morning. I feel this guesthouse is truly a hidden gem and highly recommend it to anyone considering it. Easily one of the best places I have stayed at in Japan. My husband and I were so charmed during the whole experience.

The owner was extremely friendly and adaptable to my situation, she was very kind and even let me keep my bags at the property ling after checkout time so that I could explore more of kyoto. The beds are comfortable as well as the toilet and shower facilities.

The room and shared eating and kitchen space was so clean and comfortable. The futon beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast was so lovely. Sim, Sigh, and all the staff were so helpful and gave great information, advice, and rang ahead to places for extra information for us. We were just a 20 minute walk from the main areas of kyoto, but the area around the guesthouse was lovely and quiet. If we ever have the chance to come to Japan again, we will definitely stay here again. We stayed in other nice hotels on our travels, but this guesthouse was by far our favourite stay! It was actually rather larger for what we have been used to in Japan. The fact there is everything you need, the washing machine a huge plus in summer and close to the stations. Honestly, I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Also super quiet and felt extremely safe.
