Everything about my stay was so wonderful. Hiro and his adorable assistant, Marie, are attentive, kind, and welcoming. I got to hear different stories of Hiro's life as well as recommendations that I never would have known about otherwise. His care for the guests is so apparent, including turning the heater on every morning in the kitchen, being so responsive and flexible, and consideration for any needs. The house itself is beautiful with tatami mats in the bedroom, a zen garden, a mini onsen, and surrounded by ancient trees and nature. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, kettle, and dishware, and Hiro-san provides towels and slippers. He also prepares the mini onsen for guests every night as well as shuttle service to Tobu and JR stations whenever you would like to leave or come back to the house.

Super great host!! He was so nice. The accommodation has everything and I felt very welcomed. It is a 10 min walk from the Imaichi train stations. The private room is extremely comfortable and in Japanese style. The dorms were also great but not so comfortable because moving in your bed affects the other 3 people in the dorm. The 4 beds are part of one single structure, similar to a capsule dorm.

This was a lovely place, they were waiting for us with a map and a lot of information of the city, the room was big, a lot of space to save stuff. The breakfast were incredible and free! i really loved it , and even when we returned in the night they have some fruits and miso for us they were really kind and a lovely persons, I felt like home.

We had the loveliest time at the Gableview Forest Inn. Satoshi and Elizabeth are so kind and helped us out hugely during our stay. Satoshi is an AMAZING cook. The food was incredible, so I definitely recommend having dinner at the inn! The room was super comfortable, it was great to have our own little kotatsu and the baths at the inn (both inside and the outside one with the forest view) were divine. If we are ever back in Nikko/Japan we will definitely stay again!

Mr. Yoshi's house is very near to the station about 3 min walk. It has a few rooms of different sizes and we stayed in a 3 bedders that comes with 1 double and 2 single beds. The house is very clean and the toilets smell good. Although bathrooms are shared but were clean. The house has an open concept kitchen completed with microwave, toaster oven, kettle, coffee maker.. etc. Mr. Yoshi explained to us in details about where to go for sightseeing. He is also a good photographer with a photo studio in the house. He took some nice pictures for our family. It is very thoughful of him. Unfortunately we only spent a night there. Will definitely stay again if we do visit Nikko.

Manager was VERY helpful providing maps of the area, restaurant tips, station pickup and more. Good location and functional guesthouse. Good mattresses in tatami area downstairs. Nikko is beautiful and worth the visit to get out of crowded Tokyo. Public busses nearby to the waterfalls and hiking routes. Recommended.

About a 20-minute walk from the Nikko shrines, Annex Turtle Hotori-An is situated next to the Daiya river and green forests. It features hot spring baths with river views.

Nikko can become quite crowded, but that won't affect you in this hotel. It's on the edge of town and thus away from the masses, but still perfectly situated to plan your visit to the surrounding area. Personnel is extremely friendly and facilities are really nice, especially the in-house onsen. Traditional room is a great experience - just make sure to bring an eye cover if you are a light sleeper (the traditional windows don't really keep the light out).

We stayed here 3 weeks after they opened the guest house and what to say... perfect moment in Nikko! Haru and Ken are one of the most kind and dedicated host we had! The guesthouse is a bit outside of Nikko but it's so quiet and peacefull. They also got a parking slot for free if you have a car. The house is fully renovated and clean, the room was incredible! We will definitely come back if we can one day!
