The building is newly renovated, so everything was in pristine condition, and also very clean. The staff was super nice and helpful. The location is also very nice being right next to the river, neighbouring the Matsumoto old town district. Nearby, you will find a bunch of stores, restaurants, izakayas, and even a mall. Matsumoto castle is also just a few minutes' walk from here. I'm a bit sad we didn't get to stay for longer.

Very calm and cosy house, close to the main area. Thanks to Shotaro and Hideo, two welcoming persons managing the house, with good restaurant recommendations!

Wonderful stay at tabi-shiro, which exceeded my expectations. All the staff are lovely and welcoming. Dormitory room was spacious and comfortable. Everything clean and tidy. Coming back several days after hiking to the warm fire and a cup of tea felt like coming home!! Hostel was sociable and I met a number of travellers who I shared drinks and dinners with. Highly recommended as a place to stay in Matsumoto.

Everything. Such an amazing place to stay. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable and staff are so so helpful - they recommended us hikes and helped with everything we needed. All the shared spaces are fantastic. The fires were always going and there were food and drinks available to purchase. The onsens are a highlight - we had such a beautiful time relaxing at Raicho inn. Couldn’t recommend coming here enough as a way to get out of the city and into nature. We will definitely be back.

Guesthouse staff is very friendly and helpful. Sukiyaki dinner was affordable, tasty and filling. A great place to stay overnight near Kamikochi for the price!

I think it was the best balance between comfort location and price. My friends and I got a triple room and honestly it was perfect. It is 10 min walking from Matsumoto main street and train station. We also loved it a lot because during the week no one else was there so we had the whole place for ourselves! Would definitely recommend

My wife and I spent 2 nights here as we explored the surrounding mountains - we hiked up to Enzanso hut and Mt. Tsubakuro. The owner was extremely helpful with our planning as she helped us with the rental equipment that we needed for the climb (we could have it delivered to the guest house a few days in advance). She also informed us of the current weather/snow conditions on the mountain...thank you so much again for this, we really appreciated it!! Otherwise the guest house is very nice, clean and brand new. We saw there is a yoga studio in the same facility - but I suppose that is aimed more for local/Japanese visitors - it looked really nice though.
