Super friendly staff, they were good at trying to communicate with those who couldn't speak Japanese, loads of English written explanations if you need them. Warm and comfy rooms. Slightly set back from the most touristy part of the town which I liked. It's all so close anyway that it really isn't a bother.

Just a wonderful place to stay in Koyasan, warm and cosy with no fuss, it was a pleasure to go back there at the end of cold winter days. The owner is great, speaks english and will make sure you have all needed information to make the best out of your time in Koyasan. Make sure not to miss out on the curry and the breakfast. I'll certainly stay again there next time.

This is a unique property style in Japan. You are staying in temple lodgings (宿坊, shukubō). We enjoyed our stay, we had a great, simple room with all we needed. The room was on a separate floor to the workings of the temple. It also offered a unique opportunity to learn and observe the practices of the monks and the temple.

Authentic experience in a mountain guesthouse, managed by a kind couple. The place is interiorly fournished in the traditional style with a last centiry-themed (50/60/70s? - not quite sure, but it is beautiful) dining room. The dinner and breakfast were superb! The hosts offered to guide us to koyasan (one hour drive one way) the next day. We were running a bit late and the hosts very worried about us - we want to say thank you once again for your patience.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

Great location - only short walk to Okunoin, very close to the bus stop. I stayed in one of the higher-grade room, so I can't generalize, but my experience was way above any expectations. Amazing meals, fresh ingredients, local dishes, and the best miso soups I've ever had. Beautiful halls and ceremony spaces, my room was very big and cozy as well, with kotatsu and heater. Staff was kind and patient, explaining things in simple English and preparing a sheet with instructions just in case.

I very much enjoyed the spirit of the place. Wish I could stay longer. It is a perfect location for a day trip to Koyasan. There is also a kitchen so people can cook themselves.
