Inga and her partner Marco are the charming owners of Unique Owl Apartments. I spent two nights there and felt very comfortable. The breakfast is very generous, and Inga caters to all kinds of requests. The apartment has excellent beds and is superbly equipped with a kitchen and bathroom. Inga even helped me with a personal matter. The location is also wonderful; you can walk to a well-known beach in about 40 minutes via very quiet side streets. I would book this accommodation again and hope to return soon.

The highlights of my stay were easily the staff and the location! This is not a beach side resort, but it is where you will see the true Gambian hospitality. Great conversations were had at the bar and it was so nice to see some of the local families using the pool and having fun. Th location is an easy walk to restaurants and main streets. Every night I walked to get food and back and never once felt unsafe. The room was big! Too big for just me. The place was clean and tidy and to top it off the resident dogs were so sweet and loved pats!

Offering 2 outdoor pools with sunbeds, Hibiscus House Gambia is located in Brufut. The property is a 10-minute drive from Bijilo and a 20-minute from Serrekunda.

My favourite part was the beautiful garden full of lovely trees, plants and birdsong as well as the pool which was a great way to cool off. I also loved my room which was spacious, very comfortable and came with fridge, en suite shower and A/C. The hotel staff were fantastic, always ready to help, friendly and relaxed and at the same time very professional with plenty of tips on local places to visit. Great food too, such as butter fish and spicy chicken and recommend the delicious Gambian juice called Wonjo. I had a wonderful week at Hibiscus House - very much hope to go back some time.

I recently stayed at Sinkiling House and had a wonderful experience! Omar and Dominique are very welcoming hosts who make you feel right at home. The house has great character and beautiful decor, and everything is clean. I loved the hot showers! Breakfast was amazing, with plenty of variety, and enjoying it in the peaceful garden was a highlight. The location is perfect—just a 10-15 minute walk to Bijilo Beach and only a short taxi ride to Senegambia and the main street. It’s a quiet, authentic neighborhood, making it a great escape. Overall, Sinkiling House offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend it!

Central location, very nice staff who were welcoming and helpful. The garden and house is very nice, very homely. WiFi was good, they have solar power that comes on during power cuts. Both fan and Aircon. Reasonable price. Free tea and coffee and a shared kitchen that we could use. Beach is about 6-7 minutes walk.
