We absolutely loved our two night stay at the Hare and Hounds. It is in our opinion like an old world coaching Inn. Nooks and crannies, the odd low headroom doorway etc. Friendly staff and enjoyed the food, breakfast was lovely. We really liked the fact that while dining there were no TVs on in the background. How many places are there now with TVs on while you are eating, absolutely stifling the art of conversation.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfy. We looked for somewhere to stay outside of the villages and the Inn was ideally located on a quiet road with central easy access to all the lakes and nearby shops and necessities. We also had a delicious dinner at the Inn and the Guiness on tap was excellent! The room was well stocked with tea/coffee etc. Lots of easy parking.

The location was really quiet and rural, in a small village. It is a great place to get away to peace. The room decor, style and comfort levels were very high and pleasant. I love the low library chairs! The bathroom was perfect. The staff were very helpful and engaged and sorted out my change of travel plans hassle-free. We did not have time to use it, but the inn looked like a very cosy place for a drink or a meal, even a large celebration, and was obviously popular. I would definitely go back here again. There is even a small stream running between the hotel and the car park any you have views across the valley to the fells.

Wonderful stay at the Glen Guest House with a fantastic breakfast. Great location, close to the train station, shop, pub, but also not too far to go to Kendal and Windermere. Pauline and Bill were absolutely lovely, friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic hosts! Would happily stay again…in fact we plan to go back in August.

Pauline and Bill's guest house is wonderful! Our room was quiet and clean and overlooking a serene little bit of forest. The room was a spacious suite which had a comfortable sofa separate to the bed. Breakfast was warmly cooked for us by Pauline and it was delicious, with fine local pork. We highly recommend this charming little guest house!

Yvonne is a wonderful host who was incredibly kind to me when I received bad news whilst staying at the guest house. She will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The property is a great location by the river and an easy walk up into town. Free parking on the streets outside. Compared to other places I looked at, this property was considerably cheaper and it proved good value for money.
