We had a lovely stay at MeloMar Rooms in Ponta do Sol. The accommodation is very central (about 5 mins from just about everything in town) and is clean and comfortable. We had a huge room with a balcony and a very modern en-suite bathroom. A big benefit for us was also the well equipped shared kitchen which meant we could cook for ourselves on a couple of nights. But the best thing about the stay was our hosts, they were kind and friendly and although they didn’t speak much English and we don’t speak much Portuguese, we made it all work just fine! In particular they helped us out when we got the timing wrong for the morning aluguer to Porto Novo - they phoned around and then went out into the square to help find a driver that was willing to to take us in time for our transfer. Amazing. Thank you - I hope we can come back and stay again some time.

The staff was really nice and Judith helped out in organising a taxi from Porto Novo to the hotel, including an amazing tour through the island. Also we had a great time with Ivone who prepared very nice vegan breakfast. The hotel has a great terrace with a stunning view and the location is very nice.

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, straight from our hike which started at the Cova crater - Vale do Paul. The location was very convenient for our travel plan. There is a grocery store right next to the hotel, and a restaurant opposite to it. The hotel is very well maintained, there is a nice pool in the garden and breakfast is also served there (it was a very good one!). The room was clean, air-conditioned, with comfy beds. We spent 2 nights there and could not enjoy the second breakfast but the host was very kind and gave us some bananas for our next hike (Cruzihna - Ponta do Sol). He also arranged a taxi for us upon departure, overall he was very attentive and welcoming.

Lovely ladies are working there! It wasn't hard to communicate even if they don't speak english. Clean and very nice room. Comfortable bed. And all just goood. Excellent breakfast with lots of choises. Clean and fresh pool was just perfect after long hiking day. Biggest recommendations to this place!

If you like getting away from everything and enjoying a peaceful location all to yourself this is the perfect spot. The view from the property is outstanding. The walks and surrounding mountains are awe inspiring. We really enjoyed our stay at this new listing. Our host was welcoming, the house was super clean and the evening meal was tasty and all homemade. Our hosts very kindly helped with finding a private car to the coast when we needed to leave and couldn’t have been more helpful. Definitely a good place to spend a night or 2
