Drie Kuilen Nature Reserve is a recently renovated apartment in Touwsrivier, where guests can makes the most of its outdoor swimming pool, garden and barbecue facilities. I booked a 3 night stay at De Kuilen Nature Reserve to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. What a memorable stay and celebration. The weather wasn't great which made our stay even better. The Springbok House has a cozy fire place that warms up the entire place. Don't bother packing anything, the house was fully equipped - right down to a Potjie pot. If I can give you one tip, follow Matimba's directions to the T. We got a bit lost (entirely our own fault) but superhero Matimba checked in with us multiple times and guided us back on track. I have never had such a friendly and relieved face greet me! Down to Matimba. This man plays so many roles, Reserve Manager, Ranger, Host, Guide, Photographer and the list goes on. We had the honor of going on a game drive with Matimba - what a Blessed drive! To see the love and passion for wildlife in Matimba's eyes is truly something special. I strongly believe Matimba's compassion, warmth and friendly welcome made our stay worth more than words can explain. Well done to you Sir Matimba!

Situated between the Outeniqua Mountains and Mossel Bay, Garden Route Safari Camp boutique-style accommodation in a malaria-free area. Family run safari camp with hands on owners who love conservation and take great pride in the excellence of their guides. The guides were very knowledgeable and a special shout out to Abram who is wise beyond his years. We saw great wildlife up close and personal whilst still feeling totally safe. We did both a driven safari and a walking guided safari - both were excellent and memorable. The lodge was very special and Mare, a hand reared antelope, hangs out near the lodge, which is delightful.

Each of the tents is on raised platforms, and have their own covered deck area and private bathroom. All meals are provided in the communal recreational which includes a kitchen, lounge, working computer station, and indoor and outdoor dining. Our villa was breathtaking, lunch was great, our dedicated game rangers were attentive and well informed and the facilities and reserve overall are wonderful. We wish we could have stayed for more than a night and day (ie we booked lunch, evening game drive, dinner, breakfast, morning game drive). Then we could truly have enjoyed the restful atmosphere and surrounds of the villa. Our children (12 and 8) had never been on a game drive before and loved it. We saw so many animals, including elephant, only missed the lions and leopard. Lovely experience.
