This is one of the nicest places that I had ever stayed in. The views are incredible, the accommodations are very comfortable and the staff were so welcoming. I will definitely be back.

We slept in a tent, but we weren't cold at all even when it got chilly outside during the night. We really enjoyed staying here, I'd recommend it as a base for exploring the north and west of the island. The host was very welcoming and the whole place was just so charming :)

It’s also a 6-8 hour round trip to pico do Areiro hiking from the shelters, just follow the markers.

Lovely cabin surrounded by mountain views, we saw so many stars at night. There's a great place to eat and drink (O Barracão), just 10 mins walk from the cabin, and it's only 20 minutes drive from Funchal (we had a rental car, but I believe there's a bus stop nearby too). It felt like a little home away from home, bed was very comfortable, shower was excellent and the little kitchenette had a stove top, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and fridge. Our host was wonderful, very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!
