The host was fantastic, so friendly, professional and helpful. The shelters are located right at the centre of plenty of hiking trails. Very peaceful. The shelter was very clean, cosy and modern. A 10/10 restaurant/bar is located a short walk from the accommodation with delicious food and drink, suitable for breakfast lunch and an evening meal.

Very nice property in a very nice location. Perfect for a romantic stay or even a getaway with one kid as well as for the hiking starting point - right in the middle of everything. Very nice stuff, very authentic experience.

The Mountain Eco Shelter is such a charming place that you'd be wrong not to sleep here during your stay in Madeira. You feel perfectly safe and surrounded by nature. The shelter is very comfortable (the kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is perfect and beautiful, the bed is very comfortable), the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley of Funchal with the sea, we really enjoyed eating outside with this view. The shelters are located in the Funchal Ecological Park, which gives them a special flavor: you feel right at home in nature, and there are hiking trails from the park. Unfortunately, we stayed during the August 2024 fires and were therefore unable to do some of the hikes, but this didn't spoil our stay and the host was very reassuring and informative about the fire. Many thanks to the team for this.

Lovely cabin surrounded by mountain views, we saw so many stars at night. There's a great place to eat and drink (O Barracão), just 10 mins walk from the cabin, and it's only 20 minutes drive from Funchal (we had a rental car, but I believe there's a bus stop nearby too). It felt like a little home away from home, bed was very comfortable, shower was excellent and the little kitchenette had a stove top, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and fridge. Our host was wonderful, very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!

Breathtaking scenery and amazing shelters! The shelters were very well-equipped and everything was harmonious. Even the cutlery had a bit of wood on it. Besides this, the host, Dioclécio, was super friendly and offered to help at any time. He advised me some trails to do in the Ecological Park, which I did. This was the best accommodation I’ve ever stayed in!

The owner was super kind and friendly, the island is beautiful and the park where the shelters are was very beautiful. We definitely recommend staying here and we’ll definitely will come back in the future!

Location amongst the trees, great hikes nearby (including the famous Pico to Pico, which starts a short drive away) and a sunset hike on the doorstep, peaceful, friendly meet & greet from host and quick responses to messages, but not hassled. Bedding, towels and shower etc of good quality. Comfortable bed. Heater warmed the cabin up nicely when required.
