CambodiaK's House Nikko was the perfect, peaceful breath of fresh air I needed after a frenetic trip around some of Japan's bigger centers. It is newly refurbished from what looks like a fancy hotel, with the rooms looking out into a wooded valley and river below. It has a MASSIVE lounge area, which the sunshine streams into during the day, and it's a great place to chill and get some work done or meet some of the other guests. After staying in so many tiny rooms around Japan, it was so refreshing to have so much space at K's house. The onsen is free to use, and the outdoor pool also overlooks the forest. Every time, I had the onsen all to myself. Finally the staff, particularly Chiyo were awesome - always up to provide great travel and hiking advice, or generally discuss Japanese history and culture. I will definitely be back!
